EU goes all-electric. Let the power outages begin!

So they have less than seven years to significantly augment their electric grid or face rolling blackouts. (Not hard to see what's going to happen here.) Not to mention that farming in the EU is effectively hosed as well, as electric vehicles for farming are a complete joke.

EU has literally signed a death warrant for a large portion of their people. If they survive another seven years to begin enforcing this, it will end the EU.

You are WAY ahead of me, mhubb, but I'm working on it. Most of my electronics are not very protected so I need to address that.

Yes, it seems the gov has gone off the rails and is becoming far more toxic than the train wreck in East Palestine, Ohio.

i have gotten lots of CDs from eBay with survival type books
    they take up less room

5 laptops in EMP protection, solar panels and a small generator also in EMP protection, lots of Deep Cycle Marine Batteries

we are over-due for a massive solar flare also

I support them going to the moon so they die there and leave the infrastructure behind. It's not like their money here is going to help them there ;)

I have been called worse....... And we have to regain our independence. The fact that the federal government is the entity in the way of us becoming energy independent..... just shows how far the deep state has taken over....

Yes, but you won't hear/see anything in the MSMM because "Orange Man Bad" helped make it happen. All of Trumps strides towards that independence were torpedoed on Xiden's first day in office. Shhhhhhhh, don't let that get out or you'll be called a racist!

Not a bad idea. I'm maintaining a library with actual books, too! Hard to blow them out with an EMP.

Seven years is plenty of time to move the deadline out when they see doom on the horizon.

Was the US not just two short years ago energy independent? The US has all the resources required if "we the people" were able to exploit it....

"I think that they ought to put their money where their mouths are and be the first ones to volunteer to..." go kill themselves instead of everyone else. Why waste the resources to send them to the moon?

Edit add: They can build a statue of the all knowing all seeing frowning faced Gretta goddess and sacrifice themselves to it.

and how much of what you put into the battery comes back out?

my deep cycle marine ones give about 50% back

I think that they ought to put their money where their mouths are and be the first ones to volunteer to move to the Moon. They can rule and lord over themselves all they want while the rest of us live our lives.

Not hate. Reality. The EV industry wouldn't exist except at a fraction of what they do if it weren't for government subsidies (~$20K per vehicle) and government laws mandating fuel efficiency standards (California). They are terrible for the environment (mining processes for rare-earth elements, not to mention the coal emissions and let's not forget battery disposal which still hasn't been figured out.) And they aren't sustainable either due to the electric grid demands or the requirements for rare-earth elements.

You mention competition, but on a level playing field EV's natural price point relegates them to the niche product market rather than the mainstream. Even modern ICE vehicles are >$20K more than they have to be due to government mandates for expensive engine monitors and all the fancy gadgets - not to mention the taxes on vehicle manufacturers. Take away both those and the EV subsidies and one immediately sees a $40K gap. Ouch! And then there are the range and size issues.

I totally agree that we should allow the market to have its way. That means taking the government thumb off the scales. All of them.

    (PS. I didn't downvote you.)

It could be done if they triple their delivery infrastructure and build 50 nuclear power plants. I have no problem minimizing exhaust in dense population areas.

then you are delusional to allow politicians to run your life

there will be tech to free us from burring oil, oil has many uses, burring it is not a good use

    Fusion
Fission (other fuel sources are possible)
    solar in orbit
    geothermal (Yellowstone has lots)

    all are possible options

for clueless politicians to say "do it now" shows they are clueless and out of touch

    Answering demand?
Then why do they need government handouts to sell the vehicles? Duh, because there is not much demand.
I think people who want them should be able to buy them IF they are profitable enough for the manufacturer - WITHOUT stealing from taxpayers to lower the price.

EV charging stations on avg get 85% of their energy from diesel & other fossil fuels. Lugging around 1000 - 2000+ lbs of batteries (plus heavier suspension, tires & bodies to support them) is not the ultimate tech. The break even point for an EV's carbon footprint is 60K+ miles, not including the hazardous job of recycling. Tech will improve but EV's need to get 3X - 4X more efficient. Long way to go. Plus the problems of wind & solar are becoming more apparent.

Yep, let the markets decide, but that’s not what’s happening. Governments are putting both thumbs on the scale, greatly interfering with free markets. The EU wants 0 CO2 emissions….. hope the folks can hold their breaths long enough to escape the tyrannical rule of the Brussels mofia.

True. CO2 is at about 400 ppm now, vs 300 - 320 in 1800-1850, at the end of a mini ice age that lasted a few hundred yrs. At 150 ppm plants can't survive. Most of Earth history is 1000 - 2000, & sometimes higher. Levels are highly variable, even day vs night, & year to year. Avg is +2 ppm / yr. NO correlation at any time that CO2 raises temps. Some correlation that temps raise CO2, offset by several centuries. Greenhouses pump in CO2 to boost yields.
