Twitterverse explodes over "Black National Anthem" performed before American National Anthem at Super Bowl
This was the first time I heard it performed, and there surely was a lowkey introduction for it so I really didn't know for sure what was going on. The song lyrics just seemed like a rambling string of words with no message. Maybe it meant something to somebody, but not to me.
With all that said, it seems to me a big backwards step to the old Jim Crow is taking place with segregation being brought front and center on the national scene in more ways than the sports world. We may end up with a racially segregated society by default if this keeps up. The New Jim Crow, however, has a black faced boss instead of a white one. Oh well, it's looking like integration isn't working in a lot of places. It's looking like the generation before me, that protested forced school busing, may have had it right all along.
