"On Saturday, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced an “agreement in principle” with Joe Biden on a deal to raise the federal debt ceiling.

McCarthy posted to Twitter, “I just got off the phone with the president a bit ago. After he wasted time and refused to negotiate for months, we’ve come to an agreement in principle that is worthy of the American people.”

A vote in the House is expected Thursday, according to Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA).

Now, the deal includes keeping a portion of the $80 billion increase in IRS funding and the 87,000 additional agents tasked with going after middle-class families.

Only $1.9 billion of the $80 billion to fund 87,000 IRS agents were removed from the budget."

    No rational honest person could go for this without coercion, imo.
    Once there are enough to pass it, the rest won't have to have their Deep State loyalty tested though.

    Yeah, I'm waiting to see the actual text, but I thought McCarthy gave away too much in the initial bill which passed the House, tbh. If he thinks he's going to get the Freedom Caucus on board with this Democratic bill, he's nuts.

    I agree as long as the size of the fedgov is cut by 90% and follows the limits
    of the original constitution and bill of rights. Otherwise one might easily
    imagine a 70% federal sales tax to support federal tyranny.
    They don't want a tax on consumption (of non-necessities) because it affects
    corrupt businesses' ability to sell garbage that no one needs. Stocks (and
    Wall St.) would plummet to levels supported by real goods production.
    Real Estate prices might become affordable without the Fed creating
    astronomic profits for banksters.
    imo, it will take a complete collapse or a white hat takeover to return
    to the government intended by Jefferson and his allies.

    I think it is funny about this debt ceiling deal when some say McCarthy got rolled. More like he rolled over so they could rub his belly. He is the leader of the Uni-Party no matter what letters they put after his name.

    That should be the only tax.

    And the govt is required to have it voted on in a general election to increase the %.
    And they are not allowed to spend one dime above the taxes from the previous year.

    And they cannot borrow money.

    True. It now dawns on me that the IRS along with the entire DOJ may not need a warrant for anything in the near future.

    Kevin McCarthy. I have seen him get passionate, get concerned, about anything, only once - when he was running for the speakership and had opposition. ("It's Mine!!"). Other than that, he's mostly in a state of fear (of the media).

    I am not defending them, certainly I can see some like Schiff and the Kalifornia contingent are worse than others. I am just saying trying to expose the corruption has proven not be a real safe practice.

    I looked into it 30 years ago and the evidence was in favor of skulduggery , but I don't have the details any more. Recall it having to do with the fedgov AG calling a few states in favor that didn't approve it.
