Think he is talking about Rocky Jones. WTVY of Dothan, Alabama, was showing that in the weekday afternoons (a syndicated something) along with Gene Autry and Lash LaRue.
Liked Lash lots better than singing cowboys and Hopalong Cassidy always asking for Buttermilk at saloons. That station was showing the far older Flash Gordon after Rocky flew away.

Eating dinner later, it occurred (reoccurred?) to me that Star Trek and Star Wars and other space movies were always whizzing and banging about in outer space save for 2001 A Space Odyssey.
Yeah, always big time burning fuel too.
The "In space no one can hear you scream" promotion of Alien as a movie still had noises in outer space.
Seeing the 2001 flick during the Sixties and the 1969 moon landing just before I got drafted that same year, I was disappointed even before that actual year of 2001 came around.
I was in elementary school when I was reading predictions that we would be colonizing the Moon and Mars by now. I still feel cheated somehow.
