Well, closing the ATF is an act of Congress. If we get both houses and POTUS, maybe that can be Trump's first act.

Unfortunately, its been one step forward and two steps backward for the past century.
A thousand steps must be done at once for liberty to have any chance.

We are here. We want to go there. We can't fly. We have to do it in steps. The first step is not the last step.

Every function of ATF is an affront to freedom and was call for revolt at the time of the American Revolution (e.g., Whiskey Rebellion.)
Repeal taxes (and fines) on everything legally done in the US and shutdown all federal departments responsible: e.g., ATF, IRS, Transportation, Education, FDA, SEC, EPA.

Works for me. However, a more likely positive first step would be redefining the ATF's "F" function as properly facilitating legal firearm ownership. Then add marijuana to the "T" function, so that it is legal it's taxes offset ours.

Along with a new law establishing government responsibility for government action, particularly individual responsibility, which completely undoes the government indemnity.

ATF should have been disbanded in '93 along with Janet Reno's life imprisonment and execution of the FBI management that murdered the Davidians.
Trump should put me in charge of ATF and I'll end that job along with the BATF in a second.
