Excerpt:
"One X user pointed out that 2023 data showed the US population at around 334.9 million. However, Musk's data (likely from DOGE's 'Big Balls' analyst) shows 394 million names in the Social Security Administration database.

Musk responded: "Yes, there are FAR more "eligible" social security numbers than there are citizens in the USA. This might be the biggest fraud in history.""

If I recall correctly, the first raids on the SS trust fund were during the LBJ (D) administration back in the '60s.

Same thinking here. The SS database may be like the Hotel California, you can check out but you can never leave. Nobody spends the time to purge the files of past recipients that checks are no longer being issued to. That doesn't mean to not look for fraud, which is still quite likely.

Let us not forget that Obama's social security number is from Connecticut, a state he never lived in.

My brother-in-law finally signed up for Social Security and Medicare when he was dying from Stage 4 Colon Cancer. He received one check the same week he died. That money had to be returned even though payments are always a month behind.

As for insolvency of the programs, that can be blamed on Congress from way back when (it's been going on for so many years that I can't tell you the exact date).. Although there is supposed to be a trust fund, that money is used to pay current debts of the government.

The Left is going positively apoplectic over the reality that the waste, fraud and abuse is finally getting addressed.
It is endlessly entertaining to listen to their diatribes about how undemocratic and what a dictator our President is for doing the job We The People hired him to do!

Every man who has taken the job of President has said they were going to do what only Donald J. Trump is actually doing.

Updated comments include... It's not clear these were all check recipients. Just that they were "Active". But my understanding is that even President Trump gets his Soc. Sec. Check, once he hit the magic age.

So, I struggle to accept that they are NOT getting checks.

I am just happy to have COMPETENT people looking into this, and everything else!

The report of those incredible anomalies suggests some sort of error. Perhaps the database is being read incorrectly. Perhaps Y2K is in there messing things up, as in proposed corrections that were never completed or that were done incorrectly. Heck, I have enough trouble just managing my own TODO list that's kept in two places.

Are the keepers of that particular database evil, careless, incompetent, or simply overwhelmed? Based on what I discover that I've left on my own computers, I'd favor overwhelmed. They're likely set to a task that's beyond anything the Constitution's writers ever imagined.

That leads to another evil possibility--"Let's pour so much data into it that nobody can figure out what's going on. We can then interpret it as suits our needs."

I was thinking the same. Maybe? But the 2.5% increase offset by Medicare increase has been ongoing. The only real as increase was under Trump, and that was catching up for absolutely nothing from Obomba🙁

The libs will loudly claim that this is a harmless computer glitch and that payments never went out to these folks.

Either that or it's Russian election interference..

The amazing part of this In my opinion is that we actually had the story brought to light, and
    someone competent is involved.
Not only that only that, it seems Musk has his teeth into it.

Some social security numbers for dead people would perhaps stay valid because of survivor benefits. Spouses, for example, get some survivor benefits, I believe. Perhaps the dead spouse's number stays in use in the accounts during this period.

Let's not jump to conclusions and do let's wait for a judicious, objective account.

What a revelation! And only in America!
Think about it~~undead bloodsuckers who won't need any of all that social security money for food can afford to sleep all day and party all night.

As well as many SS recipients who are struggling to live with the great 2.5% increase in 2025 which for the most went to Medicare. Yes, we pay and pay

👍 Storing some records in an abandoned mine makes it easier to make excuses for the unproductive to do nothing while wasting billions.
Meanwhile government grows, and grows, and tyranny becomes commonplace.

1,039 persons in the age range of 220 to 229.
Let me do the sum on my fingers ...
    .. birth years between 1796 to 1805,
and the 360yo born 1665, could be a child of Mayflower migrants from 1620.

To be serious for a moment, pardon, I have some passing acquaintance with large data-bases, you may think that keeping them up to date, cleaning, checking, and doing maintenance can be done by diversity hires, wrong.
Low IQ maybe for some work, but care and integrity is on another scale.
