Columbia High teacher kills rabbit as class demonstration

I live near here, so I can explain. Nampa is an agricultural community. Lots of kids in 4H, FFA, born and raised on farms, hunting starts at 10. The kids *ask* the teacher, who has a farm and raises rabbits for meat, to butcher one as a demonstration. He offers to let any kid who wants to bow out, and does it. And people are absolutely losing their cookies over this.

"I'm thinking their sex ed classes must be pretty entertaining."

I'm not sure that was necessary. Killing an animal as a demonstration...that's pushing the line in my book. As a means to feed your family, etc, I see no problem.

If they actually used the rabbit for meat, making it a bona fide deomonstration of meat production, I don't see the problem with it at all.

The reverence of aboriginal culture for sustenance always holds a special place in my mind. And so we give thanks.....

10th grade? For heavens sake, our recent male ancestors were exposed to this from age 5.

Without the first-hand taking of life for ones own sustenance...there cannot be a reverence for the life of SELF. My parents taught me well.
