I'm sure that more than one has seen the similarity between our administration and the story line of Atlas Shrugged. Is anyone worried besides me?

Destroy the Saudi oil production and no one in the country excepting the titled nobility (the government) will be able to get or afford gasoline or oil. We need the XL pipeline and anything else that makes us less dependent on other countries.

OK, try this one. Does everyone know that congressional staffers are enrolling in Obamacare which is against the 50 employee rule?. And congress knew it.

You can make arguments going back to the Whiskey Rebellion, or the alien and sedition laws or Madison vs.. Marbury. But the Civil War established a number of bad precedents, including income taxes, Legal Tender Laws, and the draft. But the real break down started with the Sherman Antitrust Act.

I agree. Technically it has been sliding since the Constitution was signed and do feel it picked up steam during the civil war. I just believe the real death warrant was signed with the invention of the federal reserve and the income tax. But that was all made more possible by some of the things Lincoln did too. :)

O.A., please note that the only way a "borg" could ever come into being is if a human "mind" were to create it, so the analogy is incorrect. that will never happen because the greater majority of the youth of the world are being dumbed down and as for the usa we are the leaders of the process. just look at what is actually taking place in the usa, teachers who can't teach so how can these fertile minds learn anything.

jimslag, your comment gives me an idea. Like a bottle of milk or a loaf of bread, ALL laws should have an expiration date. When that date comes up, the legislature should vote on keeping it or letting it expire. Things like a law against murder could be renewed if is working. Things like the Dept. of Education would have to prove success or be abolished. The same expirations should be put on eligibilities, like food stamps (drivers licenses), etc., requiring recipients to reapply and get new authorization.

These new renewal rules would also give our legislators so much to do they might not have as much time to think of new things to take away our freedoms and control us. It would also get rid of all of those archaic laws that make no sense anymore but still exist. It would also allow new legislators to modify archaic laws that were written by their elders.

    Yes.

What I find interesting is how the leftists I know REALLY hate Atlas Shrugged and Ayn Rand. They'd rather have dinner with satan. It must really pain them to see what's going on but not be able to mention that they see it. Or, maybe they're just insane.

    sumitch,
you have every reason to be concerned. keep in mind that when Ayn Rand wrote the book she did not know of what is also occurring in the world today. not only has the government with it mass of rules and regulations driven companies from the usa off shore which has depleted tax revenue, and increased welfare but we have the missing links from the desert successfully imposing problems on the free world. we have a bunch of people called "leaders" giving us the shaft.

in order to correct things here the basic philosophy has to change and that MUST start in the universities. then all the rules and regulations that drove companies off shore have to be repealed that should take about 10 years if we are lucky.

now for the missing links of the desert; the only way to stop them is to DESTROY all oil production there. that is their only source of income. that means all of the saudi production, as well as every other well, the saudis are from the wahabi tribe and the hate the sunnis and shiites and of course these 2 hate the others as well. but they function on the basis of "my enemys enemy is my friend" so they are otherwise in cahotes. but if the oil production is destroyed they will not be able to barter for weapons. they don't give money for the weapons they give oil.

the bottom line is the demise that you are seeing will just continue until we in the usa are equal to all of the poverty ridden countries of the world. Leonard Peikoff wrote in DIM 40 years at this rate but I said I don't think we will last 40 years and his response was he didn't think things would deteriorate this fast.

    get a bug out bag

Every year my wife and I will look at the newspaper or TV and simply say the word, "Closer." Meaning we keep getting closer to the world of Atlas Shrugged. However, it will not give us any satisfaction when at a certain point we can say, "I told ya so."

Having read AS long before the less than brilliant one was elected, I could see what was happening before the election. The Alinsky methods. The set classes and races against each other, all the while giving speeches of serving all. Bull! The international elite needed a tool and they got one, a puppet, but the uneducated masses have made him dangerous. If everyone had read AS in high school, required, none of this could have happened. I really do not know what we can do to stop it, as the RINOs roll on with the rest. The Mexicans will revolt and claim the Southwest for Mexico. The Sharia law will ooze into every community. Agenda 21 will take our property rights away, dictate reproduction and even eating choices. I hope someone has an idea.

Comrade citizens, you did not build that.
You are nothing save for your participation to the collective.
Your contribution to the collective is mandatory.
All your whines about shrugging is not politically correct.
That is also tantamount to treason.
Soon just the discussion shall be treason.
And your more than equal elite betters cannot wait.
Power to the people! Have a nice day.

I think there were a number of good years between the end of the Civil War and the turn of the decade.

The biggest problem with voting is that all politicians are members of The Big Government Party. So it does not matter, once they get voted in all they do is create more and more regulations and laws that make our lives more difficult. That is even though all those inside the Beltway think of as milk cows to be milked of all our earnings from our own labor. It has not been the sane way, since before the days of Eisenhower or maybe even Roosevelt or Wilson. It depends on your point of view but in my opinion, we have not had a republic since at least Madison or Jefferson. But being a realist, the foundations have been being torn down since they were written.
