Is Michelle really serious about child nutrition, or is the goal here just to screw over the middle class.
The one thing everyone seems to be missing here is that this lunch, in all likelihood, was provided to the child free. Michelle needs to mind her own business, but there is a strong idea, amongst apparently everyone in the country, that somehow the child in question is owed a lunch that the child and the parent like. NEWSFLASH.....this is what happens when you rely on government to provide for you!
One other point...If the first lady is so excited about nutrition.....how about changes the SNAP program. With all the bar codes that are assigned to every item in the store, it would be very easy to put prepared foods, potato chips, snack foods and soda on the list of items that cannot e purchased with the EBT card. But nooooo!! The administration won’t do that , that would improve nutrition amongst those poor downtrodden "High risk groups" but it wouldn’t screw over the middle class in this country.

p.s. guess that's why I wasn't a
fighter plane driver.
Jan, remembers many dried sausage-Fr bread roll- hunk o'cheese meals
would go to town! . Yes, it looks like gulag food,
but it might be healthy (no one reported sick?)
and I love fish -- preferably without the scales. -- j
Either that or she was hired by the people who bought Hostess and is fronting a save the Twinkies and Ding Dongs effort. Otherwise where would he next government party candidates be found.
If more than just a few families can't afford or find the time to prepare such simple meals, America is a very scary place in which to live.
The best way to deal with Michelle Obama's nutritional takeover is to not give it power. Bring lunch from home. The end. If doing so is too expensive, one can't really complain about what is given to them for free. If one doesn't have the time to prepare lunch and chooses to purchase a school lunch - that is a choice freely made. Seems odd to complain.
Anyone who is getting a handout - and ANYTHING you accept for free is a handout regardless of why you are accepting it - pays for it, not with money, but by giving up the freedom to make a choice.
Beggars can't be choosers.

Of course, in reality, instead of nattou, I wonder what it can be, and also the portion seems suspiciously under-sized, as if the goal was to prevent optimal brain development in children by way of malnutrition. Come on...
I had it made as a school kid back in to 50s and 60s. The food wasn't great but it was almost always tasty to some extent.
One of the funniest sights I ever saw was another elementary school kid sticking a straw into a mound of Jello and blowing air through it.
That Jello wriggled all about until it exploded.
Also funny was another kid spitting up his fruit juice for laughing when the Jello went flying.
Bet there's no Jello for a kid to blow up now.
Many years later in 1982 I ate the same state food at the Alabama Corrections Academy in Selma. For the next 21 years I watched inmates eat that same state food.
Inmates always complain about their food but it is essentially the same stuff they ate in school.
Woe is the lifer who can only dream of eating steak, baked potato or lobster.
Woe to the prison should mich-hell food be served. Since I'm now retired, I'll only have to read about the riot.
So, given that you like fish: What is wrong with this?
Jan
I just love all these same people pushing their version of healthy, non GMO eating also argue 1) against negative connotations for being fat and 2) that an overweight person should get a handicapped sticker for parking!
