Remember a vote is a one shot weapon. Two if you count primary and general. But it's versatile. In primary local races matter. especially in precincts. The current rules the partys are following are first fifteen states get free choice voting those that followi the primaries are winner take all. barring rules changes.

You can register democrat and vote for the weakest candidates they have. You can do the same republican but they are hardly worth the effort. You still get to vote for the local stuff and support or nullify the individuals on an individual local basis. So can your friends... THEN you can stay registered that way or re-register as something else depending on how you want to use your vote and what or who is on the ballot. Along way you can create pockets of resistance. saying I'm a Dino I'm a Rino and answer polls saying I'm not supporting this or that candidate. Independents don't get to vote against Hillary in the primary.... do it as a group in your own precinct you create doubt do it in a number of precincts you create fear - why did our party numbers go up and the support for the candidate go down? They are then seen as weak.

In the General you can vote against one and therefore for the other but that is a winner take all situation. So if you vote ...Trump for example or a write in and Hillary wins she gets the entire vote and can claim a mandate or a landslide on the electoral college level. Bush by the way had both but not in great numbers.


In the General you can leave the presidential line blank don't vote for either depending on the state rules it may still go the winner take all column...

Or you can not vote in the General election at all

Or you can not register and not vote in anything including the primary. Which may keep you off the jury selection as well.

The least two are where the under vote disparity comes in. Those eligible to vote who didn't vote Presidential and those who didn't register. That translates directly into a no confidence or a None Of the Above interpretation.. Must be useful I see the left is trying hard to get a mandatory with a fine voting requirement

So the goal there is to use your register/not register ability and your vote or note vote ability to deny the winner take all perecentage.

Consider with 30% not registering that's 70% divided by three less those not voting. Democrat and Republican are fairly close but no way with winner take all they are getting a majority much less a mandate or a landslide. Those figures are increasing in the non register non voting category.

At near fifty percent in the off year the winner's actual vote is often less but since many of the states no longer keep records of splinter, write in or third party it has, intentionally, become harder to gauge. But it also becomes harder for any of those elected to claim they represent much more than a fraction in either case.

That's the target information it's a target rich environment with all the candidates falling in that category. Fire your ballot iwhere it will do the most good - your choice your responsibility.

If you want more than a one shot musket with two shots a year allowed talk to your friends in your own precinct. There are a 110,000 battlegrounds that way. 3143 counties and 50 States. Select your own targets method. If you don't have initiative or recall get it. If iyou have winner take all other than federal electoral get rid of it. Or demand the spnumber of registrants, registrants not voting, voting for other than two candidates using write in be counted and verified and published. Limiting general to top two primary vote getter's or any other limit banned. If your county clerk says it's too much trouble they work for you not the other way around. If they won't recall petitition or vote against them in the next election.

If you don't have initiative or recall you are in one of the slave states. Think about it. Much easier at the local level and that includes None Of The Above with 50% of registered voters plus 1 two more good things to add.
