The problem is that there is nothing left resembling the Democrats of 30 years ago. They have simply been weeded out by the DNC who won't fund any but those who kowtow to the Progressives. When you call yourself a Democrat, no one distinguishes you from the Progressives! It isn't about abandoning the country - it is about abandoning the party that has morphed into something that no longer represents you or your values.

I admire the thought that you can resurrect the Democratic Party of decades past, but just like the Tea Party was started to challenge the Republican Party, you are going to have to start a similar grass roots action simply to differentiate yourself from the establishment Democrats(Progressives).

It has nothing to do with giving up, it has everything to do with realizing that the establishment parties are never going to be reformed. Just like the Whig Party disintegrated into the modern Republican party after its values changed, so too the current Democratic and Republican Parties need to dissolve.

Be careful with that nebulous "Republicans". One thing I've discovered about politicians is that if ONE person asks them to do something they want, they have a majority. If one person in their party disagrees with them, that person has a minority viewpoint. If they discover that 2 people agree with them, then it is called a grassroots uprising and they MUST act.

If they have one person who asks them to run for a office they don't want or don't think they will get 2 votes for - then they he won’t run, though Republicans sought him ought.

Nobody in the party thinks Patreaus would stand a chance except for maybe his wife.

My lands, not ANYBODY on that side gives a crap about us serfs and they are doing everything they can to take the guns out of our hands, not for the children like they claim. It's because they know that the more they push, the closer they are getting to the day when good men and women are going to take up such arms as we have to take back our republic. That was why the 2nd Amendment is in the bill of rights. It's not about hunting or target practice, it's all about giving us the tools we need to defeat a tyrant.

Go search other links as well and you may find the list, as I did. The list is gone, taken down by the DSA, but others captured it and I believe the members of a political party can be gained legally and openly by proper request.

At least you know and can inform others that have had blinders on far too long. It is time for us to take back our Country, create a new government, that is actually by the people, for the people. Will it be easy, NO, will it be worth it, YES. If we do nothing our children face a future that is nothing like the America our fathers taught us about. My parents were John Birch Society members back in the 70's and taught us about what was really going on. I can remember hearing a LONG time ago, about the pervasive influence of Communists/Socialists in many areas of government. The Birchers also see/saw a lot of conspiracies everywhere and for that were much maligned. That being said, MANY of the things they predicted have come to pass. I've taught my kids many of the same things but unfortunately the vast majority of people don't have a clue which is how we ended up with BO in office.. Personally I'm trying to have some food, water, etc on hand so that if (when?) the economy does collapse we can get by as things get rebuilt. After all even in the great depression, there were some people working and people got by... But preparation makes a huge difference..

That would make a lovely commecial: Feature all those who said Obama was so great,then after you hear the statement, a set of red bars slam down over the person’s face, and his/her prison assignment appears along with the conviction record.

When are we going to hear from one student who had Obama as a teacher??? I mean, shouldn’t they be climbing out of the woodwork telling us how great he was? I haven’t seen or heard one former student praise or denounce him yet.

I can tell you this much, had BO not made the jump from the IL senate to the US Senate he would have been indicted for his activities here. When Rod Baglovich named him to the US Senate, Blago took certain bribes that he was not convicted for when he tried to make another deal for the same seat when BO became president. All kinds of deals happened here for BO to make his rise to the top - and the wake of people who are in prison to get him there is nothing short of amazing.

In 2007 I sat in the commencement ceremony of a Midwest university and listened to our state comptroller telling us how great his good buddy,BO was going to be for all of us, how America was about to be transformed into the vision of so many great philosophers. We didn't know is was Marx and Stalin he was talking about.

BTW, the state comptroller I mentioned is now in prison for several charges. Some of the charges that could not be proved to the Jury or the prosecution would be enlightening. As I said BO stands on a tall stack of bodies who are rotting in prison.
