Seems like this is about picking up a couple of pandered votes for their expectedly horrible mid-term elections.

I wonder if redheads are offended about the teams like the Celtics or the Fighting Irish.

What about the Cleveland Indians, or the Chicago Blackhawks, or the NDSU Fighting Sioux?

This isn’t about PC correctness. This is about greed. You name a member of congress who has spoken out about this and I will show you a member of congress who got a donation from the owner of the Baltimore Ravens last election. The members of the Indian Nation involved in this protest are probably getting something out of it for themselves because their action will promote political donations Orrin Hatch and Harry Reid BOTH received donations from Steve Biscotti and his wife, and Hatch and Reid have also been very vocal on the Hill about the Redskin’s name. The Baltimore Ravens compete for the fans of the Washington Redskins.
Follow the money. Second half the article. https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2013/02...

Thank-you. This fight has been going since the Ravens formed in Maryland, hoping to create a fan-base of their own from disenchanted Redskins fan. The late 90’s were a dismal time for the Skins.
Marylanders still rally more for the Washington Redskins then they do for the Baltimore Ravens. If they kill the name they can make inroads into the loyal fan-base. Divide and Conquer.

There is no end to this contrived outrage. I guess the only solution is to just laugh at those who are so afflicted with such "irrational moral superiority" and ridicule their demand for "change". I refuse to give them the power to effect me.
I like the " Nightmares" idea. But Washington DC is mostly occupied with horses ass, so that would be the part of that might offend a horse.
    Cheers

Well, look what happened to the cake company that refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple. They were forced to make it by the courts. I believe they close so they would not have to make the cake.

I hadn't thought of it this way... I like your thinking Bob. Who's next? The Seminoles, Cleveland Indians, how about the Dolphins since they are the smartest mammals in the sea... I think they should call themselves The Political Nightmares!!!!!!!! Wait, that might offend horses. LMAO!!!

Personally as far as offensive, the name the Washington Redskins IS THE MOST offensive team name in history. To resolve that we need to REMOVE "WASHINTON" from the name and just call them the "Redskins" That should solve the offensiveness.

    I'm nDn but live off-Rez.
H.Reid is just using the event for partisan gain. He and all the Dims think they know best for us injuns, and ignore our overwhelming pleasure of the term redskin, which we invented and used ourselves since forever. How condescending of the Dims to ignore our desires and tell us "No! It's racist and derogatory."

Being from the southern section of the country, I am often traumatized when a team calling themselves "Yankees" is mentioned on a local station. Going forward, there should be no nicknames whatsoever. Mention the names of each respective member of a league only by the chronological order in which they came into existence. For example, openly compensated team (pro) number 4 defeated openly compensated team number 12.

NOW it is beginning to make sense. I was unaware of the Baltimore Ravens situation, so Thank You, Mimi!

Senator Reid is so consumed with rage and hatred for the United States that I am embarrassed that citizens of this great country would actually vote to send him to Washington .

However, Harry Reid cannot erase 82 years of great baseball history by eliminating federal guarantees of trademark protection.

THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT WORKS, HARRY!

If the trademark protection is revoked, then any one could use it. You could have more people using it in any way they wish. Washington redskin pizza, Washington redskin beer, Washington Redskin oil drilling company, Washington Redskin Airlines. This would have the complete opposite effect on those 20 people who are offended. Just shove it right back in their face.
    Cheers

    Hello Eudaimonia,
Anything but their legitimate responsibilities. Harry Reid is proof a mind is a terrible thing to waste. I wonder what non-political government agency will be used for political purpose next. Maybe the Post office will deny mailing privileges to all but the statists.
I hope I haven't given them any ideas...
    O.A.
