Gary Johnson: Our two-party system has failed, just like our founders said it would

Shortly after drafting the Massachusetts Constitution, John Adams expressed his greatest fear for the nation: “There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader. . . . This . . . is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil.”
On a more interesting point, I knew the founders were against factions, in Federalist 10 and maybe 9. I couldn't tell if they meant armed militia, political parties, or both. I am amazed to hear Adams specifically was worried about two parties b/c (I think, not sure) there were not two dominate parties at that time. If there were not two dominate parties, that was amazing foresight from Adams.
