I know that they change a lot in movies to accomadate the non-book readers, and because of the ratings. But making it into a straight out "in-love" affair. I am just not okay with that point. It takes away from things later on in the story.

I remember. I agree with your point. "interesting" as in I'm interested. I do think that Hank is initially confused in his feelings and the carnality was very much the beginning of their love relationship. Hank's pent up frustration at schooling his attraction to Dagny is what helped to feed that combustion. I'm not sure the movie should have played it out differently according to your own point.

Why do you think that its an "interesting take?"

In the books, Hank doesn't realize why he is really attracted to Dagny until later on. He damns her for bringing out the feelings he has. It isn't something he is proud of he just accepts it because he wanted her. And he has always gotten what he wanted.

He specifically said, "What I feel for you is contempt. But it's nothing, compared to the contempt I feel for myself. I don't love you. I've never loved anyone. I wanted you from the first moment I saw you. I wanted you as one wants a whore-for the same purpose."

It wasn't until he signed over the metal that he realized exactly what Dagny meant to him.

I really liked her as Dagny. She has that air of aristocracy that is necessary to play her as well as the innocence of thinking she can still take the whole world on and win. I did not like the way that Dagny and Hank's relationship was played out. It was more of a carnal, physical thing until later on. They turned it into a love story of sorts.

I watched Part One and throughly enjoyed it. Can't beat the book, for obvious reasons, but they did a fantastic job considering everything!
