And save documented REAL history before it is changed so that we might be judged fairly...the future should know the truth of it.
For those things of which the outcome is unknown, may we have the chance to change the missteps of today, tomorrow.

If only there were some way to make all snowflakes, socialists and communists believe they were living in their utopia while they were actually living in an objectivist world :)

There is substantial evidence that Columbus was secretly Jewish.Since there is so much anti-semitism afoot nowadays, this will at least give those nut-cases a more traditional time-tested reason for their hatred, or if they are of the Defend All Minorities school, get them to embrace Columbus.Who knows? They may turn the 3 little pigs into villains for giving the Big Bad Wolf emphysema.

Electing patriots applies to Congress too.
Unfortunately, self-serving professional politicians are not patriots.
It's hard to find even one good man in a swamp.
Mewthinks swamps drown those kinda guys.

Yesterday I walked to the mailbox and place two letters inside. Just I began to raise the box's flag, I said, "Oh, crap! It's Columbus Day. Mail doesn't run."
Me dino took the letters back inside.
I do not agree with vandalizing monuments and trying to erase history to advance the lib cause, but that's about all Columbus Day means to me.
    The mail does not run.

If the libs have their way, they won't know nothing to judge us with period. Always look forward! Sacrifice for the greater good of the state!

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter much who is in the oval office. If he was great, congress would block everything he proposed. If he is an idiot we would get the same results we have now. We have to educate our kids in how to reason clearly and wait for them to take over or at least prepare a road for our grandchildren to do so. In my case it will have to be my great grandkids and I don't have any.

Libs are trying to turn that into a heads I win tails you lose kinda thing.

Actually, Columbus was a pretty good guy...that's why the libs/progessives want to take him down cause they can't be as good therefore no one else could be either.

Always the guilt with them...as Yoda might say.

525 years into the future (if there is one) people will look back and judge us by their standards. Will that be fair?

Just think, millions of years with humans and their ancestors on this planet and one cadre of literate farmers put together the document that describes the greatest nation ever for its citizens and the world and they want to erase it. What must we do to stop it?

I have never understood why we celebrate Columbus since he never set foot on the soil of the continent called America, he never even saw it from the sea. he landed on Watlings island in the Bahamas. of course he is not celebrated there because his presence and that of his crew ultimately caused the inhabitant of the islands to die. the current Bahamians were originally slaves from the Carolinas left there by the Tabaco and cotton growers after they found out you can't grow stuff in limestone soil. of course history is written incorrectly but you knew that.

I don't think anybody was Mr. Goody Two Shoes back then.
Today? It sure isn't lib thugs who want to erase history by tearing down monuments and beating up people who don't agree with them.

Thank you for that article. The truth may be somewhere in between the article above and that thing I quickly found by typing in "Columbus chopped off hands."
What I find appalling is that the left wants to erase history. I do believe they dream of a socialist society in the future which no one knows anything about our Founding Fathers and the U.S. Constitution.

Where oh where do these creatures get this crap?
Here we go again with the liberal's refusal to accept the authority of the original author.

The spanish crews were vial creatures, much to the horror of of Italian Columbus...I am sure he punished them...not the non flesh eating indians.

I am skeptical of anything I read in newspapers and e-mags but I do care about history and read many biographies written by historians and which include extensive documentation. Even academic efforts are open to interpretation but they are more likely to be closer to the truth than what some blogger or op-ed writer throws out. I also give some credence to organizations that have a history of providing factual and thoughtful analysis of subjects. I found this Heritage Foundation's treatise on Columbus to be more believable than most articles I have read.

Yes I read Aphrodite's Island: The European Discovery of Tahiti. The discoverers (well I guess the folks who lived there quite nicely and knew how to get around had previously discovered the isles) had a mentality that they were so civil that they natives life was not so valuable. Yet there was three or four gentlemen who were conscious and recognized these were humans and intervened on the natives behalf the best they could.

    I don't think it is.
I also don't know if everything in that article is accurate, but it is a fact that Europeans tended to look down on anyone of another color and particularly pagans back then.
The conquistadors who followed were very cruel.
None of this alters the fact that Columbus led the gutsy expedition that discovered "the Americas."

Wow, he sounds like a Clinton right down to Haiti. I never heard any of these things about Columbus.
    Is this common knowledge?

I remember reading about those baby-eating cannibals a long time ago. If you think about it, daddy is eating junior. Ugh!
My son said he read that Columbus punished slow-working Indians by having their hands chopped off.
What am I doing? I'll look it up myself.
Ta ta! This article is really bad~

I heard the real story derived from Columbus's diary...boy did they get it wrong. Even the supposed slaves he took back to spain. They were the sex slaves of the cannibals in the Caribbean, and as the article states...same thing was happening on American soil also. They would impregnate them and eat the babies...Columbus freed them from that slavery and brought them back to spain to have a normal life.
And why, would anyone blame anyone for unknowingly bringing new diseases to a new land when no one in those times had any clue about such things.
Columbus made friends with indigenous people where ever he went...but we can't say the same for the spanish crews on those ships. Columbus dealt with Them harshly.

Will be learning more in the future and will provide links as I learn.
