Even a so-called dumb Alabama redneck kin tell a libtard, "No, thet thar AR on ther side of an AR-15 rifle don't stand fer no diddly-squat "assault rifle." So quit a-sayin' sech stupid shee-it. Thet thar "AR" means ArmaLite Rifle, yuh dumb as a brick son of a bird-brained pecker-wood!"
A semiautomatic rifle can't be classified as an assault rifle because it can only shoot one time per trigger pull.
Now one of those bumper stocks can convert a semiautomatic into a hand-held machine gun. being a full automatic the essence of an assault weapon.
But here in The Gulch me dino is preaching to the choir. Whoa, whoa, whoa! That's just a "so to speak," y'all. So don't all yuh atheists go git yer panties in a wad.
Explain what I just wrote ter some whack-job lib and I'll bet a dollar ter a doughnut thet he/she/it or whutever fits will just turn right around and jabber on about AR-15s being assault weapons.

Think you can tell by the way me dino cranked up this post that I've about had it too.
Redneck farmers, coal miners, plumbers, even ditch diggers can tell you that an AR-15 "ain't no" assault rifle~but it seems lib college professors, politicians and other so-called elite intellectuals can only deal with feelings and not with facts.

Hey I don’t know if this will post, as I’m only a 40 year long self-reliant shrugger who is thoroughly enjoying semi-retirement, but if y’all think anything beyond basic 6 or so round hand guns and the equivalent capacity rifles are sufficiently fulfilling the second amendment, then I’m done being a lurker.

My S&W .22 revolver (the 317) would have been banned in New York, a couple years back, because of their 7 round limit law (the 317 holds 8).
Next thing you know, they'll try to ban "Assault Revolvers".
Oh, and P.S....it has a "pistol grip".

Back 30-40 years ago, the gun control crowd used the term "Saturday Night Special" to describe any handgun they didn't like. They didn't get enough traction to actually do much of anything, so their propaganda turned to "Assault Rifle" to describe semi-automatic rifles. The other term they use is "weapon of war" or "used only on the battlefield to kill people." Well, back in the late 1800s, the bolt-action repeating rifle was used as the main battle rifle on the battlefield, so I guess that makes Winchester Model 70s and Remington Model 700s "weapons of war" to be banned? I think that would mean war, and I don't mean a cold one. Back in 1898, we had a "small" war with Spain. We won (we didn't "conquer" Spain, but we did end the last vestiges of the Spanish Empire by kicking them out of the Philippines and Cuba). But, our troops in Cuba (including TR's Rough Riders), armed with bolt-action Krag-Jorgensen rifles in .30-40 Krag, were outgunned by the Spanish, who had bolt-action Mausers. TR later (as President) advocated for upgrading our "battlefield weapons of war" from the Krag to what became the Springfield Model 1903, in .30-06. (There was a ".30-03" cartridge, which was soon improved to become the .30-06 we know today.)

I'm reminded of the Chinese emperor who tried to stop the violence in his empire by banning spears, bows and arrows, and swords from the civilians. Then people turned to agricultural implements, and he banned them. When his ministers reported to him that people were using chopsticks to commit crime, gave up and rescinded all of the bans as useless against human nature.

Yep, I have a modified 9mm carbine that looks like an AR-15 save for two skinny 30-round magazines.
The carbine's effective range is the length of a football field while that of an actual AR-15's .223-cal round is about six times as far.
My carbine is named The Evil Hag because its construction was inspired by Candidate $hillary saying, "I dream of open borders."
It is purely meant to be a defensive weapon.

So, what is the purpose of the AR, other than to kill humans?

As former military, I'd like to kick that camera whore retired general who coined the term in the backside. I could do the same thing with a semiauto shotgun, but that doesn't make it a military weapon. One uncomfortable thing I've seen lately is that some idiot liberals have begun to look at air rifles as "dangerous." Does this proceed to the point where professional baseball teams have to check out their bats from the team "armory?"

This is half the reason of why me dino secretly carries a concealed pocket pistol in so-called "gun free zones" such as the credit union where I "bank."
I'm always friendly with the armed security there. Me dino is always friendly with everybody.
Trust everybody with my life? Nope, not me.
Oh, the other half of the reason I conceal carry is because bad guys will likely first target cops and any armed security before my paid protectors get to consider the option of fight or flight.
Some will chicken out. That's just the way it is.

I've about had it with the AR 15 thing. You can call it an assault rifle, you can call a mini-van a bus, you can call a John Deere a LeManse race car, You can call a trombone a clarinet. But as Willie the Shake said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". A thing is what it is. Period. End of report.

A M16 did had yet to acquire a 3-round burst setting when me dino was drafted during 1969. The fire selector switch was either semi or full automatic. But training taught me that, when assigned to lay suppression fire (as you described) to support the attack up a hill for a four-man fire team, you "tapped out" short bursts. Running up a hill with an empty M16 was useless to the rest of the fire team.

First, I love Trump and support him 100%
Second, I love that Rick Scott and Trump disagree... We need this. 2 GREAT solutions that do not hinder the 2A to talk about. It's a great idea.
Third, I like how Trump is offering to ban the Bump Stocks. KNOWING this does not deter from the 2A issue, and is a throw away to most of us.

But, I want him to be careful, because he said he would make illegal ANY device that could make a weapon fully automatic. (This is already illegal, BTW. Just being in possession of a kit that converts a gun to Auto without a permit is the same as having an automatic weapon). MY Issue is that the LibTard judges will declare MACHINING equipment capable of such action, and start arresting conservatives for having things like a FILE, a saw, a piece of wood, a belt, etc.

This is the first time we have a NON-Politician in the White House... And he has GAME!

Those who know nothing about guns should refrain from discussions about them. Ignorance clearly shows itself when these self appointed Gun Rights activists open their mouths. A .357 projectile out of the muzzle is every bit as dangerous and deadly as a .223 or .308 caliber. The number of successive rounds a gun can continually shoot has no bearing on the sick mentality of the killer behind the gun. We don't ban vehicles because drunk people might drive them.

I was shocked to find out that it is illegal to sell a US Army surplus ammo can in the state of California. I saw it on an on line shopping site that they couldn't ship to Cali. WTH they are sceirt of a frigging metal box???!!! no wonder Nancy Pelosi keeps getting elected.

A note about "bump stocks" - no serious marksman uses one because they throw off your aim. Even trained military members use the three-round burst setting - not full automatic - the vast majority of the time. Why? Fully automatic is a "spray and pray" method more conducive to area suppression than actually inflicting casualties or fatalities. In a real firefight, the best way to get killed is to run out of ammo.

Bump stocks are a toy, but their effects can also be mimicked by looping your thumb through a beltloop. Yup. The debate on bump stocks is even more ridiculous than the one on pistol grips (which help some people with real "gun control") or any of the other fancy attachments you can use on a standard Picatinny rail.

Me dino learned that from Slick Willie when I had a hand grip on a shotgun.
Bought it the day after someone tried to force open the door of a next-door neighbor at an apartment complex about the time Clintonista became el presidente.
I illegally hung on to the 12-guage when the hand grip became banned. After the ban was lifted, I traded it in to help pay for a .45 pistol that I later traded to help pay for the 9mm 15-shot "car gun" I keep in my glove compartment.
