Hawaii volcano could be on verge of major eruption

You just have to wonder, people who build on an active volcano, and then get pissy when it eats their house? This seems so surreal, when people are not intellectually capabl;e of connecting "big hot thing with fire in it" to "it frigging burned our house down" and after doing it over and over, still asking: Barbara Lozano, who lives within a mile of the plant, said she would have thought twice about buying her property if she had known the risks."Why did they let us buy residential property, knowing it was a dangerous situation? Why did they let people build all around it?" she asked.

I still think that Icon could do it justice, assuming its still controlled by those who did Braveheart. It would also open the door to at least one tv series about the Stones, a libertarian, scientifically based Lost in Space- except they are never lost;^). That family could please a wide range of demographics and set up a half dozen spin-offs. Maybe the Mormon Church could provide some funding and conservative guidance. Are there any tech companies who would benefit from funding a movie with a computer as a heroic character for a change?

Oh man, the Javelins (the ones with the wheel flares) were really nice to see when they were in good shape. Pintos were crap from start to finish. Corvairs caught on fire as much as Pintos, and without getting hit....

Freedom you are right about the message, it is so anti Deep State that it would never get done.

There is an argument over on FB in Fan Film Forum where I stated that the treatment of Starship Troopers pretty much shut the door on any more movies, and that a "fan film" will run afoul of copyright, so any visual representations of a book are probably not happening. I would love to get a production company together for Moon, as the technology is there to do it justice, look at how well they did The Expanse, and SyFy is moronically tossing it out the airlock after this season.

Jubal is one of my favorites, although Lazarus Long takes top prize. Jubal and Lazarus appear in a couple of books together.

It is good to have a plan. Perhaps you will share water with Michael Valentine Smith someday and tell him of it. Lol

I'd hire experts with a record of success and a history of tweaking Hollywood's biased nose: Icon Productions. They would earn a hefty profit share.

I was hoping that Moon Is A Harsh Mistress would be produced but it looks like that has become a dead project. Too controversial for the statists in Hollywood, I suspect. If I had $100 million I would get it done [grin] then use the $500 million profit to start building a real Gulch.

You've got that right. I enjoyed Stranger in a Strange land . Very much that should be a movie.
Favorite character was Jubal Harshaw he reminds me of Herb7734.

Even Spielberg knew his audience would appreciate an accurate shot at the state bureaucracy in 1981. Today, he would not include that bit of dialog- and the product would suffer from his irrational statist bias.

Yes, good post, nick. Just pointing out how these liberally-biased reporters go the extra mile and leave their safe spaces to get a propaganda story. May it bite them.

    With the emphasis on "Liberal".
Great idea. Unfortunately we'd have to give her a royalty on the millions of t-shirts - and she would use it to brainwash and enslave others.

Yea....well, it's still illustrative of how stupid people are, then turn around for the handouts, Hawaii is already asking Trump for money, after crapping on him since election. I hope he says " Nope, your too stupid for money".

Thank you, my thoughts exactly, especially when they think in terms of "Tourist dollars" only.

You would think this would have been obvious after Camille...but nooooo. I went to Biloxi in 2014 and it was still trashed, but now you do have to build on a platform above the Katrina flood line, and able to withstand 120mph wind, up to the flood line at the railroad tracks, so something will be better. Selling land on a live volcano is like have a used car place with Pintos and Corvairs only....stupid.
