I just saw an episode of uncovering history or some such on Discovery, and lo and behold they were in greenland, talking to dudes who are excavating the Viking settlements and answering all those silly questions like how warm it was, they raised sheep and hunted walrus up there, farmed etc. But the grand solar minimum will knock them back, just ask the turtles...

I read in the paper (in an editorial, I think) that Greenland was once warm (hence its name). Being in an editorial, it may have been an opinion, but it seems likely to be true.

Even Al Gore got into the act basically agreeing with the government report, paraphrasing: I told you so! No one understands that all the dire predictions are a result of computer algorithms. IMHO, the ONLY true indicator of serious "global warming" would be the massive sell off and price drop of choice beach front property. Not happening any time soon.

Also, the dastardly date of doom keeps moving into the future. In my lifetime I've seen doom predictions of 1990 (nope), 2000 (missed it again), 2012 (made a movie about that one), 2020 (not looking good), and the most recent from the failing NYT: 2040 and maybe I'll live long enough to see that one go by as well.

In arguing with someone over this, I mentioned that no one ever talks about the benefits of warming (sadly I think we are cooling -- see the sunspots).

Even the IPCC said with respect to the UK in 2007: " Annual heat-related deaths increase from 798 in 1990s to 2,793 in 2050s and 3,519 in the 2080s under the medium-high scenario. Annual cold-related deaths decrease from 80,313 in 1990s to 60,021 in 2050s and 51,243 in 2080s under the medium-high scenario." Have you ever seen a headline that says "IPCC reports that Global Warming will save 17,000 people annually in the U.K."? Have you ever seen a report that mentioned ANYTHING positive about warming, even though the great periods of expansion and exploration were times of warming.

And, interestingly I found a really interesting study in the Lancet which studied temperature related mortality in a number of countries in different climates. Unsurprisingly, extreme heat and cold are dangerous, as is persistent heat, but the vast majority of the deaths come from persistent cold.

So they puff up the problem in order to get more funding. Meanwhile, if they succeed, the result is that innocent people die and trillion$ in economic value is destroyed. Not much different than the thugs from BATF and FBI murdering innocents at Waco.
