"According to a CBS poll, 76 percent of American viewers approved of the speech. However, the same poll said only 56 percent felt that the speech helped to unite the country, and just 33 percent said they think Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will work more closely together after the speech."

He can't recite socialist platitudes, one after another for an hour, then proclaim that the US will never be a socialist country.

Yes, especially AOC. Is what happens to those who choose to relinquish their human virtues to the mob.

Thanks, LOL. Everything we have here is paid off and I still have family here and my wife and I are in the winter of our life spans so it's tough to sell, pack, and move away and start over. We are looking, though.

These commie NY politicians can make me laugh and cry at the same time. I sympathize with the "southern" attitude that those damn liberal Yankees can stay right where they are, but I'd don't want to be included as a "damn Yankee", LOL. Besides, it looks like "peoples republics" are starting to take hold all over the country and there are no places for free people to run.

Trump managed to strip the Dems bare with that speech, showing the evil underneath.
Schumer is so far gone now, he doesn't even try to disguise it anymore.

    Also correct.
It causes me to modify what I wrote.
The left wants to destroy us. Trump is all that stands between us and them, so he does indeed have to endure the slings and arrows.

You can’t unite a country where half the people just want to take from the other half. There is no compromise possible

You are correct. I was overly broad in my application of the tongue-in-cheek derogatory. My apologies.

My sincere condolences on the rest. I don't think I could bear to live in such an environment. My hat is off to you!

Unlike the last SOTU, His Wickedness Darth Schumer did not frown at all.
During this SOTU dino came to the conclusion he looks more repulsively evil with that crocodile smile under his Pinocchio.
Whoa! New thought! "Cryin' Chucky" cried crocodile tears.
Yeah, now he won't even make a deal when it comes to Trump offering to help Dreamers.

Even the MSN could not lie enough to sway those huge numbers, the lying will now have to be done by the correspondents and anchors, and they have already started. I loved watching Nancy "Chewing Her Cud". Look it up, the definition is perfect. Someone on the Right now needs to learn how to market the truth about the State of the Union and help more Lefties slide over to reality. Adam Shitft needs to be put down, he's really starting to come out as the pathetic political hack that he is. The politicians on the edge will have to start coming around too, or suffer the consequences of possibly not getting reelected. I ask my Lib/Dem friends, the few I have left, if they really agree with the Shitft, Pelosi, and Schumer hacks. Many of them are stating to say no. It gives me a little more faith in humanity again.

    Correct.

If he pushed the same program as the left, it would not make any difference.

It is Trump the person they want to eliminate.

Trump does not seem to mind. He said in his rally speeches that he will take the slings and arrows directed at him. He seems to thrive at adversity..

As long as it leads to results for the country, we should accept it as well.

Think of Hussein who was loved by most of the population (something I never understood), but he drove the country to the ground.

LOL, as a currently stuck resident on the southern shore of Lake Ontario in the Peoples Republic of NY, I hope I don't get accidentally included in the infantile voter set. I'm completely embarrassed by the likes of the "Son of Godfather" Cuomo, Chuck "The Penguin" Schumer, and Alexandria Occasional-Cortex - and those are just the tip of the iceberg.

And did you see Chuck Schumer's face, when Trump spoke about the new abortion laws?
    Truly an evil reptile.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
The swamp wants Trump out of the White House, even if they have to burn the country to the ground to do it.

The die hard dems will remain die hard idiots. I am seeing a lot of those who are on the fence politically leaning very right to the side of Trump. You can only fool some of the people some of the time and the liberals are showing too many of their real cards.

Two things I noticed: Senator Sinema, freshman from Arizona, wore a hot pink outfit, getting disapproving looks from her white-clad sisteren, and worse yet, she joined Republicans in jumping up and applauding over the President's remarks on the strong national economy; second, Pelosi, the day after threw shade on the idea of "Medicare for all," saying it was ridiculous and too expensive, contradicting every wannabe Democrat presidential candidate announced so far. Pelosi appears to finally be listening to people telling her that Americans are tired of the "resist" movement and and want to see something positive happen, and today said she is willing to accept whatever border deal the joint committee comes up with.

The Speaker would like a legacy of accomplishment, even if it means enraging the extremists in the party. I think she knows that any investigations or attempts at impeaching the President will be a waste of time, but she's willing to let the troublemakers play in their sandboxes while she gets busy working on things that can be bipartisan, like infrastructure spending.

Going too far in appeasing the extremists in the party jeopardizes the hard won seats captured in districts that had voted for Trump, so I suspect Pelosi wants to be sure the party retains those seats in 2020. Since nearly all of those representatives are on record as moderates, she has to give them room to claim some success.

Conclusion: the Speaker has motivation to cooperate just enough with the President to be seen as effective. I even have a suspicion that her "victory" over the shutdown might have been purposely engineered by her and the President, to give her the political muscle to keep the radicals at bay.

Ha! They reminded me of the North Korean cheerleaders who attended the Olympics. Total groupthought. Highly immature.

What raised an eyebrow on me was how many were looking at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - a freshman in Congress. Just tells me how numbered Nancy Pelosi's days are and how infantile are the voters of New York.
