76 percent approved of Trump's State of the Union speech

"According to a CBS poll, 76 percent of American viewers approved of the speech. However, the same poll said only 56 percent felt that the speech helped to unite the country, and just 33 percent said they think Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will work more closely together after the speech."
Truly an evil reptile.
During this SOTU dino came to the conclusion he looks more repulsively evil with that crocodile smile under his Pinocchio.
Whoa! New thought! "Cryin' Chucky" cried crocodile tears.
Yeah, now he won't even make a deal when it comes to Trump offering to help Dreamers.
Schumer is so far gone now, he doesn't even try to disguise it anymore.
My sincere condolences on the rest. I don't think I could bear to live in such an environment. My hat is off to you!
These commie NY politicians can make me laugh and cry at the same time. I sympathize with the "southern" attitude that those damn liberal Yankees can stay right where they are, but I'd don't want to be included as a "damn Yankee", LOL. Besides, it looks like "peoples republics" are starting to take hold all over the country and there are no places for free people to run.
Pelosi signaled them twice to control themselves when they started to boo.
Of course. Anybody following events understands that.
The president can't help unite the country against a recalcitrant left. They will never back his agenda lest to provide political advantage to him.
I was watching a snippet of the "View" after the Covington disaster as Whoopy Goldberg sensibly commented that the left should not jump to conclusion without supporting evidence.
To which the rabid Behar shot back: "It is because we want Trump out of the WH" to thunderous approval by the audience.
You can't do anything reasonable with this mob.
Love it.
I don't watch the show either, it was on the net when I happened upon it.
Wonder what happened to Behar leaving the show as she announced last year? Her anti-Trump attitude must be very lucrative: it made her career.
Some career!
The swamp wants Trump out of the White House, even if they have to burn the country to the ground to do it.
If he pushed the same program as the left, it would not make any difference.
It is Trump the person they want to eliminate.
Trump does not seem to mind. He said in his rally speeches that he will take the slings and arrows directed at him. He seems to thrive at adversity..
As long as it leads to results for the country, we should accept it as well.
Think of Hussein who was loved by most of the population (something I never understood), but he drove the country to the ground.
It causes me to modify what I wrote.
The left wants to destroy us. Trump is all that stands between us and them, so he does indeed have to endure the slings and arrows.
The Speaker would like a legacy of accomplishment, even if it means enraging the extremists in the party. I think she knows that any investigations or attempts at impeaching the President will be a waste of time, but she's willing to let the troublemakers play in their sandboxes while she gets busy working on things that can be bipartisan, like infrastructure spending.
Going too far in appeasing the extremists in the party jeopardizes the hard won seats captured in districts that had voted for Trump, so I suspect Pelosi wants to be sure the party retains those seats in 2020. Since nearly all of those representatives are on record as moderates, she has to give them room to claim some success.
Conclusion: the Speaker has motivation to cooperate just enough with the President to be seen as effective. I even have a suspicion that her "victory" over the shutdown might have been purposely engineered by her and the President, to give her the political muscle to keep the radicals at bay.
