Violent demonstrations in Paris enter their 8th day against Macron's gas taxes.

Macron said the taxes were necessary to fight fossil fuel converted to renewable energy cost.

The French keep falling into the same trap every time they elect a "leader". Didn't they know that renewable energy is not free? What did they expect from this dude when they elected him?

The demonstartors in Paris scaled the Arc de Triomphe, in an excalation of protests:

"Mr Macron says his fuel policies are needed to combat global warming."

The man is an idiot but the French deserve what they got by electing him.

Using the Racist attack always works.

There is no need to specify why someone is a racist: it it were, 99% of the attacks would become untenable. When used, it is supposed to silence your opponent, no matter what the issue is at hand.

That is the reason the left keeps using it.

Everything is a racist remark if your a Lib/Socialist. They have gotten away with calling everyone a racist who they don't agree with for so long that they can't stop, but why stop, they continue to get away with it.

That cuts straight through the crap! By the way, a socialist would advise that you just made a racist remark.

Always there are reasons for higher taxes- the primary one is to fund the waste and ridiculous controls the government puts on the citizens.

At one point, France was the most advanced nuclear power user, with 70% of its electrical supply coming from reactors. Their safety record was flawless, but after the Japanese debacle, they reversed course, and like Germany, have begun shutting down these "dangerous" energy sources. Even the Sierra Club studies admit that nuclear power is safer and cleaner than any other source, but the herd continues to follow the delusion of "clean" energy.

True, they brought that on themselves, however, although violent protests never solved anything, not only are they too, effected by the global sociological c[lie]mate, there is little they can do against the cultural marxist stupidities.
It is difficult to ignore them, even more difficult to not to do unintentional business with them; but I also think that their own lack of consciousness is their own demise as well.

Speak up?..Yes, but do not include physical animosity...state one's case then go for a recall of all the offending parties.
Protests were intended to Hurt, to embarrass, to make known the atrocities but were never intended to do bodily harm nor destruction of personal property...that is counter productive.

But then again, since when, have the French recognized the difference between counter productivity and productive activity.

And these are real protests by Parisians - not Islamic thugs (which by the way did way more damage).

Destroy the populace to save them. Macron insists the higher taxes are necessary to reduce France’s dependence on fossil fuels and to fund renewable energy sources.

    "Let them eat cake."....Good one!
Macron is desperate. His approval rating is in the 30% range. When he goes, I hope that the takes Merkel with him.

As if the government will actually assist in the conversion to renewables. This is laughable.

I note that the "tone" of the article is in favor of Macron: "shame on protesters".
No indication that the media recognizes that there is a good reason for protest.
    "Let them eat cake."
