Who here is old enough to remember Global Cooling?

This is the winter, during which your leftist 'friends' on Facebook will remind you over and over and over and over and over and over that weather is not climate, unlike a few years ago, when an unseasonably warm winter was absolute proof-positive of Global Warming™.

I remember this well. We were using up all of the fuels and would freeze.

    The solution: Higher Taxes

It all comes down the same base problem.and people today do not understand the basics.

We need MORE Taxes. <--- Sarcasm

So, we will just be taxed (as we were to prevent the '70s Ice Age) to prevent Global warming.

Peak Oil, Acid Rain, Suburban AIDS, Ice Age, Global Warming, Overpopulation, Desertification, Silent Spring, Deforestation, Noise Pollution...

Pretty soon, they'll have to start recycling Crises of the Week.

Yeh, it's funny how they pick and choose and negate and approve for their own purpose. Just like all their data "proving" man-made global warming.

Speaking on this subject is there anyone out there "As Pink Floyd put it" talking at all or even remotely discussing the "Chemtrails" being spray, dropped or whatever the right way to explain it because from what I understand the "Secret" reasoning and I use that phrase because the military deny that it is happening and we are all conspiracy nuts but the global change that is happing they are with chemicals seeding the sky to change the change.

Perhaps we could all come together with the left and, in our imaginations, think, hope, wish or (do I say it?) pray global climate change away!

Yup! We were headed to a new ice age. Supposedly it was being caused by the SOx & catalytic converters. It seems the converters were oxidizing the SO3 to SO4 which forms a more persistent aerosol causing the upper atmosphere to reflect away too much sunlight. Imagine that, they were blaming the anti-pollution devices even back then. Kinda like the whole DPF/DEF debacle they've caused these past few years.

"Those who forget the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them." Problem is it's the idiots in DC who forgot the mistakes, and the rest of us who are doomed by their incompetence!

I remember climate not mattering because, with the earth's (over)population bomb, too hot or too cold we would all be starving and eating each other.
I also remember, as a student of geology in the 1970s, the academic consensus being that the world's oil would be depleted by 2020.

I remember Global Cooling, and of memory serves, Jimmy Carter went on national tv to warn us about it!
This piece is great and supports the idea that our climate and weather are both beyond our control, an that we mere human beings can do little to change it. If the climate is going to change it will, whether our beachfront homes will end up under water or not.
But there’s a bright side - maybe a series of brutally cold winters will put Washington DC in a deep freeze and we can get back to our lives.

Interesting, Blarman. I just saw an article listing a couple of Upstate NY lakes as being in the top 10 of the most clean and beautiful lakes in the US. The acid rain hysteria predicted they'd all be dead cesspools by now. Something just ain't right!

You may have something here. Just think, there would be no problem finding your cows in the forest at night!

On a more serious note, has anyone noticed the rise in the price of beef lately? Is it just my imagination or is it just in my local area (Western NY), or is it becoming rather epidemic?

Global warming, Climate Change, man made or not and I don't care what you call it. Mother Nature has the west coast burning and the south end was under water and the east coast has hurricanes while the north and north east are feeling an arctic blast and all the money in this world can't stop the next violent volcanic eruption from thrusting us into the next Ice Age in a very short time.
All just a big time Money Grab by global alarmists who will have it all spent before the time ever comes. Keep your Shorts and your long John's handy because the predictions are about as accurate as your current weather reports.

But how are you going to tote the party line unless you attend the public indoctrination centers - I mean schools?!? We must keep spending more money teaching people alternative ways of thinking (Common Core) that don't actually solve real problems efficiently or someone might actually challenge our socialist agenda with facts! heh... I've seen claims that, if the North Pole melts, then it will cause sea levels to rise. Never mind that the whole thing is floating.

I live in Florida. When it is hot outside, I run the air conditioner. When it is cold outside, I run the heater.

They even have shopping carts at Costco and Wal-Mart, so that we can practice walking on our hind legs.

There's a technological solution for just about everything.

Postmodernism underlies the K-PhD curriculum. Among its axioms are that the universe is a figment of one's imagination, reason is a Western patriarchal myth, words do not have objective meanings, and every race has its own arithmetic.

By their own 'logic', then can just identify Teh Climate Change™ away.

    Oh, geez. Yes!

I had forgotten all about acid rain. That was back when AIDS was going to kill everyone in the suburbs.

When you combine Zharkova's work with the work of Heinrick Svensmark it paints a bleak picture of the next 30 years.

Svensmark has provided some theoretical underpinning to the long noted linkage between sunspot activity and climate first noted in a paper by Sir William Herschel in 1801 correlating sunspot activity with the price of wheat.

While the correlation was known, the mechanism was not. The change in radiance between sunspots an no sunspots is minimal. However the solar wind increases with sunspots and the solar wind blocks cosmic rays.

Svensmark theorizes that in times of low sunspot activity the cosmic rays increase and increase cloud layers which increase the Earth's albedo leading to cooling -- except over the poles because Ice has a higher albedo than clouds. Some of this was confirmed via experiments at CERN.

I've been expecting cold as a result of this for the last 15 years, based on observable trends in cycles 23 and 24. When Zharkova's paper came out, I became much more certain.

It's too bad the "Global Warming" religion is blocking all serious climate science.

I will also note that the Wikipedia article has increasingly downplayed Herschel's paper over the last 15 years -- but you can read the actual paper on the internet.

Recently, the Congressman who represents the District where I live sent a mass mailer that listed his 'accomplishments'.

He tells us that sea levels in South Florida are rising "ten times faster than"—it's unclear if he meant ten times as fast as or eleven times as fast as—the global average, which is hard to fathom, because water generally does not pile up. Worse yet, he is not calling for us to evacuate. Instead, he brags about some Congressional Caucus that he cofounded, so that Congressmen can sit around talking about Teh Climate Change™, rather than design solutions and release the patents into the public domain.

It's almost as if he and his peers felt that reality drips from the tips of their quills, and that the legislative process grants godlike powers to the holders of elected offices.

I remember reading the articles in the 80's about acid rain as the next global boogeyman and seeing old copies of Popular Science with the global cooling articles in them. So many hoaxes cooked up by "scientists" trying to scare everyone into things...
