218 coronavirus cases and rising on quarantined Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan

Japanese Health Minister Katsunobu Kato announced on Thursday that 44 new cases of the virus had been detected on the Diamond Princess, including a quarantine officer who tested positive, bringing the total number of infections on board to at least 218.
The hike in infections came after officials announced 40 fresh cases on Wednesday. Authorities have so far tested 713 people on board, fewer than one-fifth of the total, but the outbreak already ranks as the largest single cluster of infections outside mainland China.

And considering how long they waited, METHINKS that was EXACTLY what they were doing!
The scary 4 facts here:
1) An incubation period of 30 days (BTW, the word quarantine meant 40 days, and was used on incoming ships to make sure they were safe from disease, LOL)
2) Infection/Contagion without symptoms
3) Contagious AFTER disease has run it's course!!!
4) Re-infection Deaths... Like another virus (Ben-gay (sp) fever, I believe... Podcast), the second infection can be LETHAL, because your body has SOME antibodies,
but NOT ENOUGH, and the virus mutates just enough that these are not effective. So, the body doesn't panic, thinks it has it under control, but it doesnt. So the immune response is not existent, and the people die. This is REALLY scary. In fact, this raises concern about herd immunity.
Not to mention the R0 (spreadability/growth rate).
BTW, us usual, men are more likely to get this as well... That dang Patriarchy! LMAO
The first had NOT pinched the METAL over her nose, significantly REDUCING the effectiveness of the face mask.
The second had the mask on UPSIDE DOWN with huge gaps everywhere because of it.
And this was for 2 people who were being cared for by PROFESSIONALS. His point... These people do NOT know what to do.
China is a Very Wealthy Paper Tiger!
And DARE I say that in America, we get PAID for getting it correct! Even our TENT Hospitals have like 3 levels you CANNOT EASILY Cross between without upping/changing your protection. Because we understand how to NOT spread the disease. Hence our outbreaks are more controlled. We take this stuff seriously!
Also I see two additional people from the ship have died, though they were in their 80s (not that they aren't valuable, but one really can expect a slower, more difficult recovery for elderly). The previous sentence is to remind myself that I am no longer 18, despite the fact that I actually feel pretty much about that age. One can only fool Mother Nature for so long, and eventually my time will come.
I think I would attempt an escape if I were on the ship before I was one of the 74
I believe that this may end up like a very highly virulent cold/flue-like illness that doesn't kill with the veracity it has in China. Much like SARS. I say this on the numbers I've been looking at this week. This bug is highly viable. Very resilient and easily spread. Those with compromised immune systems need to be very, very careful.
Bolster your immune systems. I haven't been sick now for 14 years. PM me if you want some insights on that.
Every time I flew to Japan and back, I came down with a flu. Sitting there for 12 hours is the perfect condition to load you with the bugs.
