Capitalism automatically corrects for inappropriate directions that businesses take..Collectivist schemes have very little self correction, and therefore travel down bad paths for long times (Amtrak, US Post Office, Public Schools. etc)

One of the things socialists don't want to talk about is the impetus for innovation lies entirely in personal gain. Even the early years of communism in Russia saw massive starvation because not only was there no skill occupying the farms any longer, but because all the proceeds were being confiscated, there was zero incentive for farmers to put in the time and energy to sow and harvest. The same principles apply in any business venture: human capital is powered by will; if you defeat the will you deprive yourself of human capital and societal advancement.
