Trump-Biden ‘debate’ full of hoaxes & emotional manipulation shows the press has failed as guardians of the American Republic

the heart of the problem. Tuesday night’s debate featured a sitting president and a former vice president who did not have a disagreement of opinion so much as two completely different sets of facts. Biden was literally working from a set of prepared talking points, circling back to them even when they were irrelevant to the question at hand, and simply dismissing everything Trump said as a lie.

Trump did not behave the way Americans have been taught a sitting president should. Instead, he acted like a journalist, peppering Biden with tough questions he never gets from the press. And how could he, when the Democrat has spent the past week calling a “lid” on the press first thing in the morning? When Biden does talk to the press, they ask him what he thinks of Trump’s (supposedly rotten) soul.

It is precisely because the press has been totally derelict in its duty that Biden can assert Trump is “Putin’s puppy” (thanks, Russiagate!) or the above-mentioned Charlottesville lie, or treat the debunked stories about “Russian bounties” and Trump’s alleged disdain for US troops as proven facts, while declaring any criticism of his record or his family’s business dealings as “discredited.” The mainstream media saying so doesn’t make it so.

The proliferation of hyper-partisan “fact-checkers” who routinely label Trump’s hyperbole as “lies” but bend over backwards to cover for the whoppers coming from his critics only make the situation worse. Nearly the entire mainstream media industry had endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016. Millions of Americans voted for Trump to send them a message, but instead of soul-searching they just doubled down.

As far as I'm concerned the debate was a brawl with Biden having prearranged answers and resorting calling Trump a liar or making flat out lies. Biden went so far as to say that his son was exonerated in regard to Ukraine. He did flare-up when he got confused between his living one and the one who died. Biden couldn't do a debate due to his mental mushiness.

    You're welcome.

Ha, after reading my own post I'm surprised I used the possessive "subpoena's" as opposed to the plural "subpoenas". Oh well, some days are better than others.

mccannon01 Thanks, that is some story!
Putin, about whom things can be said, behaved here as straightforward and as knowing his stuff, rather a contrast to Wallace and certain others.

Thanks. With the Mueller investigation (witch hunt) going on at the time, Putin's response gave me a "Holy Schiff!" moment.

Seems that today you can only rely on a source if the subject is not in a certain range. Wiki is reliable on many topics but not on certain political issues where it is strong wokist/left.

    Example:
"Wikipedia is a useful source if curiosity draws you to, say, the periodic table and its history. But for anything of a contentious political and/or cultural nature, visitor beware!"
    https://quadrant.org.au/opinion/qed/2...

I look at RT now and again. In general it works like it should, at least at the moment. It covers a wide range of news, has some good pieces, a few are bad, the standard of writing in ok, the caliber of the writers vary. If the topic is one where Russia/Putin have an interest or opinion, then it is very one-sided. I agree- .. more truthful and insightful than the MSM'.

The Putin interview was hard to watch, but I really wanted to see how it would go with an American reporter one-on-one with Putin so I watched the whole thing. Putin totally outclassed Wallace. The highlight was when Wallace tried to get Putin to physically accept copies of the Mueller investigation subpoena's for some Russian citizens and Putin shrugged, crossed his arms, and motioned for Wallace to place them on the table. Wallace tried again and Putin told him to put them on the table. Putin looked pissed. Apparently Wallace didn't catch on to the fact that Mueller's subpoena's were worthless pieces of paper outside US borders, including Helsinki. He caved and put them on the table.

Then Putin lit into Wallace and said something staggeringly important that was NEVER repeated in any article or newscast that I've seen in the US. If you didn't watch the live interview at the time, you'd miss the most important part. Putin looked Wallace in the face and reminded him the Russian Federation and the United States had signed a treaty in 1999 that provided a legal avenue for either country to interview citizens in an investigation. All Mueller had to do was file the requesting paperwork at the Russian embassy and so far Mueller had not done that. Furthermore, right in the interview Putin promised in front of the whole world he would personally make sure any Russian citizen Mueller or his team wanted to question was available in Moscow at a date Mueller set up through the embassy. Odd that something so important was placed on a silver platter for Mueller by Putin himself and Mueller never acted on it.

My comment about Wallace from before the debate:
"he's always gone with the direction of the wind (from the ass of his boss with Wallace's nose firmly embedded therein.) I trust him to try to vilify Trump and make Biden look as good as a mentally deficient person can."

    That opinion hasn't changed.

Per wikipedia (a questionable source, imo):
"RT is a state-controlled international television network funded by the Russian federal tax budget. "

I have found http://rt.com's reporting to be more truthful and insightful than the MSM, but I may not be tuned to detect their method of propaganda yet.

Easy solution - Don't Watch Live TV at all.
Virtually everything there insults me, brainwashes (political rubbish and product ads), or tries to steal from me (fake news.)

I thank the tech gods for the remote all the time!

Also the ability to record shows so when I watch them later I can zoom past the blathering idiots. For example, I like "The Five" but will only watch a recorded version so if Jaun gets really stupid I can zoom past his part. Likewise if they have on Donna Brazile I can zoom past her starting with the first syllable out of her mouth.

Chris Wallace is now officially change channel or zoom past. He actually made an ass out of himself interviewing Putin in Helsinki so he was treading on thin ice, but now he's gone.

Slow incremental burn... I agree. My perception is that many in the Media have a low-intellect and are placed in their positions with deliberation -- just read your script and collect your nice salary. Some of those salaries are so large, that the recipient gets the belief that they are actually earning it.

How much control over content does the state have over the content of RT TV which is state owned. I see that it has been removed by some streamers due to being propragrandist station, including Plutotv. It is still on youtube. They seem to be more willing to have both sides than do some US stations such as MSNBC, CNN, etc.
But it is the amount of politicization that ruins any truth in the content.

Agreed, but the subject of the questions was posted prior to the debate and I don't remember seeing anything about Wallace's last attack regarding the White Supremist crap!

They are always "rigged" (as you know.;^)
The only reason Fox had a part in it at all is they had their statist Wallace to rig the questions.

If we think this debate was bad with Trump hater Wallace as the Moderator just wait for debate #2 when they have Steve Scully. He Interned for Congress Critter Joe Biden back in the early days of his career. It's a good thing this stuff isn't "Rigged"!

I don't have a crystal ball but back in 2015 while Trump was just playing with the idea of running I said to my wife and brother that he would be the dems worst nightmare if he does because he would certainly win. I also told them it would be a wild ride when he does.

We are headed for a civil war for sure. Not certain about when, but if biden wins the die is certainly cast.

I thought it was boring and a waste of time. I also thought that it was insulting to take a man like Trump, with obvious accomplishments, and force him to stand there are legitimately debate a 47 year loser like biden who cant come up with an original thought. I turned it off and wont watch the remaining ones.
