The. Media. Is. Not. Helping.

We have now arrived at a place where there is no way to verify anything. A may equal A, but there is no way to verify that this is the case. The media, in particular, has discovered all of the tricks to pretend that they can show that A=A by convincing their audiences of the veracity.

In Communication Theory, this is called "metacommunication." That is, "communication about communication." By manipulating the way that we communicate about events, we get sucked into false stories more easily than true ones.

They are using Josef Goebels play book. Remember if you tell a lie often enough it becomes fact. Kind of scary is it not?

Exactly. It seems any conservative is a "right wing extremist", but one never seems to find the phrase "left wing extremist" in the MSM.

Someone (maybe someone like you that knows the profession) should write a book or at least a pamphlet on how to recognize the bull-schiff. I think it should be a required course for middle-schoolers.

I have taken to watching Sky News Australia on YT. They are more politically on the right in reporting news from the USA. I really like their wit.

Yeah, me dino has seen that "ridiculous" kinda crap before.
That's not reporting and I have a Year 1974 degree in journalism. That's called editorializing or opinionating or slanting if not outright lying.
Noticed that a lot when the Fake News subject was Orange Man Bad.

Of course. That's the point. I have been suggesting that people take a good hard look at the adjectives and adverbs that the mass media use to sway opinions. If they're using them, they're lying. Example: One network reports "Trump is asking for an election recount". OK there. Another reports, "Trump, the election loser, is demanding a ridiculous recount of the already official election results.: The difference becomes obvious.

I have an easy solution- just ignore all media information as most likely false information.

Something about the TV show Dragnet comes to mind: "Just the facts ma'am, just the facts."
