    An interesting concept. The city of Detroit has a lot of abandoned land. Newt talked about making Detroit a tax free zone for a period of time. This would encourage capital to flow in. Newt wanted to give Detroit the same deal as Puerto Rico.

    Interesting concept, though I'm not sure how viable it would be. I did find the site intriguing, though. I agree w/kh that there is no way the US govt wouldn't have their fingers in that pie.

    It would be hilarious to see Detroit sell that island to that development. Since they are going bankrupt, they should have to!

    thanks bigjim. this is very interesting. I read through the faq s and see two glaring flaws, in my opinion, even though I love the overall concept. 1. requiring 300k as a "citizenship" fee will not ensure the best and brightest for the city state. 2. remaining part of the US. there is no way the US govt would allow a city state to operate outside federal law.
