I've always believed that the best defense from a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, dependence on law enforcement response when they may me more than 30 minutes away will only lead to higher body counts.

Could not agree more. People, even teachers say: "They/I don't want to have a firearm." I bet if you could ask any of the ones killed in Sandy Hook, Parkland or here, what they think, they would change their tune.

Of course its way past time and when the Parkland horror took place we had in this area several Ex Military who offered FREE service to schools in this area and it was turned away by Liberal's who said we do not need that, also we need to open up Juvenile records considering what is happening to our children at very early ages.

Trained good guys with guns are protecting all the politicians and celebrities 24/7, so why not a few protecting our kids? To an insane criminal "Gun Free Zone" is a target rich environment. Take down the signs and have concealed carry personnel on the premises.

I'm sure there are plenty of responsible gun owners out there willing to submit to training and checks for the safety of the children. The subject of the article is former military and law enforcement so there are people out there willing to go the extra step.

If you want school teachers to be armed, you better have a good background checking system and a very good trainer to see they understand exactly how you handle a weapon in a crowded place.

Agreed 100% Unfortunately most legislators concentrate on the "how" not the "why." As a kid growing up in the fifties we played "cops and robbers" with sticks and fingers. Now video games are incredibly realistic. I wonder if the mentally ill translate the "rush" of the video game to real life not understanding the differences. I suspect just another contributory factor.
