Ticket Sales Gross for AS3

To see what ticket sales are like for AS3 go to "the-numbers.com." Sales for the first three days in 242 theaters were $355,000. If you divide by $10/ticket you get an estimate of the number of people attending. However, some people go twice so the real number is less. 242 theaters is pitiful and the gross per theater is pathetic. The movie will be dropped by theaters soon as owners need to make some revenues and get some popcorn sold.

I caught the 7:40 showing at the AMC theater in Rolling Hills (CA). I counted about forty people--mostly old, rich folks. Probably came down from"the hill"--Palos Verdes. My planned theater party fell through, so I had to go alone.

I thought production values were much better for this segment. Good choice of actors. Sure chopped a lot out, but I think Rand herself could have kept her book down to maybe 800 pages instead of 1000+.

I just mean the low number of theaters and low ticket sales. Have plenty of demands on my time and the family has plenty of activities going on so the shorter the theatrical run the less time we have to see it in a theater. Tai Chi class, karate classes, square dance club and hoe down, business time demands, school, adds up and the next thing you know you're out of time.

Sad, but true. I saw it twice at two different theaters. There were about a dozen people for the first matinee on both Friday and Sunday. Look at the number of theaters in each metropolitan area. It isn't on enough screens to do big numbers. Worst of all, I count 13 states where it isn't playing at all.

lostsierra, what do you mean by "this state of affairs"? That the ticket sales are low?
I'm confused, why would you have less time now to see it in a theatre than you have had before?
I'm sure I'm missing something here......

There will certainly be a video release - they'll recoup a lot of the investment from that alone - I plan to buy the BD, to add to my others, which include the D'Anconia Copper edition of AS 2.)

Yes, I think "hurry up and see this if you want to see it in a theatre" is good advice.

To let people know where they can find the amount of ticket sales/attendance numbers/theater numbers. Since theaters will soon pull the movie, those who wish to go see it should go now as they don't have much time. Otherwise they will have to wait for video. A video release may not happen. I doubt if I will have time to go see it in a theater given the numbers so this is of concern to me and likely many others. I blame the producers for this state of affairs and am angry at them.
