I submitted my response. Thank you, lmarrott. Actually, I liked the idea of using different actors for the roles, although I'm not really sure why the Producers went this route. Lack of funds to contract an actor for the entire run? Availability of the actors during the scheduled film shoot?
Then of course, I thought all of the actors gave a superior performance, bringing with them the realities of the characters I could only imagine when reading the book.
Great idea! Took the poll and looked at the results. I'm not too surprised by the results except for the casting of Ellis Wyatt. I don't think either actor really exemplified Ellis, but Lew Temple was the better of the two I think.
There are many old saws still in the culture to connect to, for example: * You don't work, you don't eat. * You get what you pay for. * There's no such thing as a free lunch. * The devil finds work for idle hands. * Thou shalt not steal. * You have to pay the piper. * Treat others as you would be treated. * Don't do unto others what you don't want done to you. * Neither a lender nor a borrower be...
I'm sure we can pull together a bunch more, extolling the work ethic and defending property rights and being responsible for oneself. The people who need it the most just need to have their memories jogged about these ancient values and the original meaning of social justice.

Thanks everyone!
Now I *am* glad I missed it...
