I have probably directed 100 people to read Atlas -- all say they are interested, but never had any come back to talk to me about it -- of course some people I mention it to are customers or clerks in stores. I first STARTED to read it when it first came out [I was 10 abd big on Greek Myths] my father was a big reader and he had bought a paperback. I saw it and started to read it thinking it was about Olympus! Stopped at about page 100 -- but got back to the whole thing when I was in U of Chicago Graduate School with Milton Friedman and others. My wife tried it, but gave up after maybe 50 pages, and constantly asked mt WHO IS JOHN GALT!

Recently watched the three movies. Started a re-read of the book! Atlas and 1984 seem to be used by the democratic party as training models!

I agree. Audio book gets everything out there and you do not get bored at reading a particular section, I can not remember who read what I listened,, but whoever it was, he was not bad but not particularly great either. On the other hand, i just finished listening to Wiliam Shatner's latest book, and his voice is good and very entertaining. Which makes me think of one of the first audio books I listened to, The Ragman's Son, the story ofKirk Douglas, and read by him BEFORE he had the stroke and his voice changed so much, What I found in that case was a whole new medium, in the sense that Douglas's voice is so unique, it was like he was in my house, sitting on a chair next to me and telling me about his life. You would not get that by reading the book or watching it as a movie -- check readers when you can, as the man who read the Green Mile made the story BETTER than the movie or reading the book. [Makes me wonder if some great voice might be enticed to read Atlas and give it a whole new audience! -- tis could b much more effective than just sending copies of the book to schools -- maybe cheaper too!]

I recommend the unabridged audio book. Great for people who commute or just don't have the time to sit and read a long book.
