Past The Point Of No Return

Honest, people, this is not a story from The Bee. It's on foxnews.com. It's from Oregon, so while it shocks the hell out of me, it doesn't surprise me.

'Megan Donecker, who formerly served as the Oregon Department of Forestry’s DEI strategy officer, complained about the agency's management, criticizing her boss Mike Shaw for looking "beyond gender and identity in hiring, seeking only candidates most qualified for the job," OregonLive reported.'

How the hell did we get to a place in society where someone could be canned from his job because he hires based on merit rather than identity?

After seeing this, it almost makes me think that a catastrophic end-of-the-world event wouldn't be a bad idea; it would give Mother Nature a chance to cleanse herself of worthless pieces of crap like this and start over. Yeah, there'd be some unfortunate collateral damage, but when people like this idiot in Oregon wield this kind of power, maybe that's a price worth paying.

Update: I had a chance to check the links. Nice, thank you! I will get back to them when I have more time.

"Lipidleggin" was a great story. I am amused at how the author refers to government control freaks as "giraffes". There are a lot of them long necked creatures these days.

Reality is a great teacher. Dont till the land and you get NO food, period. Our society promotes too many fields that have little connection to reality- mostly desk jobs. No wonder kids get where they are today.

I can understand why Elon Musk and Donald Trump are aligned. They are birds of a feather. There are a very few of them, far more that run their lives mostly rationally, and then in this society there are what looks like a majority who are just emotionally run with little reason. This is. why democracy doesnt work.

I saw this article as well and know that I want NOTHING to do with Oregon, if this is how they handle business. It seems to me that this man should have received an atta-boy for doing his job correctly.

This honestly makes me sick to think that this is what our world is coming to.

Crash and burn so far. I looked through the books I have and came up blank (unless it's a part of the huge Foundation series) and then went on line looking for it and still couldn't resolve it. I'm now starting to think I got the right story, but the wrong author but I still think it was Asimov - or Bradbury perhaps? I'll keep an eye out - or maybe the old neurons will fire up in an "aha" moment and I'll have it. Maybe another Gulcher can chime in with the solution.

As a partial hint the story started out with one of the alien's far outpost planets was visited by an earth ship first encounter and the earth explorers were armed, which was frightening and didn't go over well with them.

Agreed, but I don't think you can leave out the east coast from that accusation. The liberal elitists there are just as bad.

Methinks you just solved about 2/3 of the country's problems.
+1 because that's all I can give you.

The article gets snarky at the end with this: "The pink-haired, tattooed Salem resident..."
Something else I thought was extremely relevant but completely glossed over by the Fox News writers: "She also reportedly claimed that six queer staffers didn't 'feel safe or comfortable' at work...". Six queer staffers? That sure as hell sounds like non-straight-white-conservtive-males would be hired if they were qualified for the job. Why wasn't that taken into account before this guy got suspended?

I guess you could go back to LBJ's Great Society. I'm sure some of the Gulchers could go back farther than that.

It is true! The inmates are running the asylum! This is just one example of the idiocy gripping the left coast! Stupid is as stupid does!

I say we load all DEI strategists onto a Boeing plane, piloted by a couple of new "diversity hire" pilots, and fly them to a seminar on the other side of a large ocean...

Have you seen what happens when they take rats and give them EVERYTHING. They destroy it and devolve like we are witnessing here. Everything is just too easy.

I spent years cleaning public bathrooms as a kid. It taught me a lot about people, but it taught me the value of leaving things BETTER than you find them. Restrooms are prone to getting disgusting pretty quickly all on their own.

Yet, we would still get vandals throwing the TP rolls in the toilet, trying to make it overflow. At one point ,we had steel bars and padlocks to protect a roll of THIN PAPER.

We need young kids to be doing REAL WORK. Lest they grow up to be what we see today!

Saw that myself looking at the person in the picture it would seem she never walked in a forest but maybe came out of the zoo to make her mark.

Indeed. And so sad. Many have been brainwashed and don't even understand the real meaning of words that define "freedom."
NYC, the place that once was supposedly the center for open discussion and 'liberal' (aka freedom-loving) rational thought is now utter censorship with no varied opinion on anything.

I still have some old Asimov books in my library. I'll look to see if it is in one of those. If I recall, it was a short story or chapter in a larger book.

I don't know much about Scientology other than it sucks money from rich people and its founder, L. Ron Hubbard, wrote the book "Battlefield Earth" which I liked and I liked the movie with John Travolta. The book was better.
