Weird eh? There is a whole story behind the antarctic thing, you can look it up on the web but there are a million variations on it from several ships sunk by UFOs and on down to "we went there and it was boring so we left".... The strange thing was the timing...right after Roswell...

Well, I looked it up on GoogleEarth. All I can say is daamn. That's just out there.

Ok....BTW ADM Byrds comments were verified and his diary and papers are still classified..pretty severe treatment for something they just dallied down south for...This is one of those stories no one ever hears of, but does exist. It is just there are about a million variations on it.

I don't think tabloids print tabloid articles as a favor to President Obama. They've been doing it for a long time.

My fanciful story is it's the intended beginnings of a Gulch. A few executives wanted to create an arctic retreat for the few friends who founded it. They want to archive data there to preserve it for the future. They also plan to invite a few rugged libertarian-minded young stars to spend a a year there seeing what they can make it. Several of the founders are Google execs, so they promptly removed it from Google Earth.

That's just my narrative of what I wish it were.
