This is getting out of hand. The only way to rein this in is if parents start prioritizing their children’s education by turning their backs on the public system. To private school we go.
The Romans had a phrase for it. "Reductio ad absurdum," to reduce something to absurdity. Like most liberal seeming stupidities, there is the underlying motive of control. In this case, thought control. When infused into a youngster, it becomes the lesson of guns bad, prohibiting them, good. Good for the Mom. She is fighting for more than she knows. I wonder, however, what effect this will have on the little one. Will it be admiration for Mom or fear of using guns?
Infuriates Mom? I do not understand why the High Sherriff and Police weren't leading a perp walk of pseudo educators out of that school. I don't think there is a single sane person in the school system! What would prompt them to generate forms and "contracts" like that? Somebody needs to send that video to the Governor.
CG you are right that it is not a contact. And it is probably healthy that you would laugh it off. However, it is symptomatic of the idea that the government owns all children. It is not just morons running the school, it is much bigger than that.
I have been aware of what they have been teaching our kids for a while now. Check out this web site and see for yourself. Especially watch the videos and hear it from their own mouths. http://www.progressivestoday.com/white-p...
Here is the bottom line: The schools are sued. If they are sued, they come up with ways to avoid the suit in the future. That means things like this.
Whether they win or lose, it costs them money. If they document that they did everything they could, they avoid more losses.
I'm not one to support the public schools - worked there for way too long to do so. My suggestion is take your kids and RUN.
At the same time, I understand WHY they are in the situation they are, and why private schools are not in that same situation, let alone home schooling.
And the pressure is only going to increase, from both sides of the system.
Get out, while you can. And systems like K12 from home are great until you realize that you have to document your child's life for the system as well. As the Federal government takes more control of our public schools, I see only more trouble for everyone.
Put your kids, first. You get ONE try at getting it as right as you can. Choose.
Have you not heard that it takes a community to raise a child? I mean get with the times.
How long will it take for the state to take our kids away and put them in education camps? I do not know, a part of me cannot imagine it, but another part thinks it more likely than I want to accept or believe.
The logical end to this nonsense will be for the cabinet level Department of Child Safety to mandate that all children become wards of the State, be raised in Government run Child Safety institutions until the age of 18, be taught according to the latest scientific methods on what to do and who to obey and what to eat. The Democrats perfect little world.
You want to say to the school officials, "Are you hearing yourselves? You think someone could be disturbed enough to kill themselves, but rational enough to understand and obey a signed contract? At 5 YEARS OLD??"
Private school might be a better alternative. Homeschool definitely is.

It's also bizarre in the extreme, just retarded. I would have a hard time talking to them without laughing.
It's not govt overreach. It's morons running a school.
