Thanks, I will look for it the next time I get to the city. I have fond memories of filling my car with cases of Silver Oak and Groth cabs, and zins from Paso Robles and Monterrey while tasting and driving from Napa down the coast to LA. I love the wines from Bordeaux, too, when the budget allows.
Been saving a magnum of late 80's Groth cab for a special occasion. Groundbreaking of Atlantis, for example. The celebration scene in Wyatt's home from AS1 comes to mind. Cigars and champagne are wasted on me, but I do appreciate Islay single malt or aged Barleywine Ale.
I will be making Bouillabaisse and rouille instead of traditional turkey and dressing.

Sophia's Cuvée is a wonderful Pinot. Red as opposed to a Pinot Grigio.

Well, my first point of information is to say that Cabs and Zins and Shiraz' don't GET big the way we like them. BIG REDS are Bordeaux: Lafite, Mouton, Margaux. We were thoughtful enough [and they were so much cheaper then] to lay down 1980's. oh, mama. Don't forget the dark chocolate to enjoy with the dregs.

Then, I'll refer you to my husband the Wizard, who actually knows those things. I usually drink what he gives me and go "ooooooh".

I just got a call from the man, and asked him the question [to be elaborated on later] and he suggested, IF you can find it, a Shiraz from Molly Ducker called The Boxer. It runs about $25 and big wine stores carry it, when it's available.
Let me know what you find. I'll probably be drinking a Jo'burg Riesling for Thanksgiving with turkey.

Not to distract from your post, but I like big reds, too. Do you have any current recommendations for well priced (available US) big cabs or zins or shiraz (thats my order of preference)?
