I need to move to Seattle!

I learned recently to not be surprised when the government rolls out another big program. I've learned not to be angry or confused or sad, but to laugh. Because expecting something to act against its nature, and then being genuinely surprised when it does what it has always done, is the behavior of an insane person. That being said, this has to be the funniest thing I've heard in a week.

So you might recall that Seattle elected an actual socialist to the city council. Like legitimate stands behind the red flag socialist. Well I like to keep tabs on what's happening on the other side of the philosophical world to see what they're up to and, lo' and behold, she is deciding to get free Wifi installed in all of the homeless campus of Seattle! This is so insane it blows my mind.

The details are the best part. Breezing through the quick joke of Internet access bring a human right, going through the few articles reveals that the local news crew decided to ask the homeless if they thought it was a good idea. You can ask anyone who doesn't understand economics, which is most everyone, if they want free stuff and I assure you they'll answer in the affirmative. Let alone people who are in a position of economic ruin what they need to get out of it. Ask someone who knows how to get OUT of poverty what the homeless need.

Another juicy part is that they won't tell anyone how much this proposal would cost, although the city has dedicated $100,000 to improving the tent cities. This is good on multiple counts. First, they're spending money on improving poverty. Think about that for a second. They want to make poverty MORE appealing. No reduction in taxes or reduction of regulations to remove poverty, just make the people there more comfortable. The second part is that they won't tell anyone the cost. That's really great because honest workers have no idea how much their spending on buying Internet access for other people. Then you have the fact that out of a $100,000 dollar budget, THIS is what comes to the table. They have other Council members concerned about restrooms, OR maybe food and shelter but nope not the socialists.

Anyway here are some links.

    Free computers and phones? That's next. The bums have to have something they can use on their shiny new WiFi, right?

    Gods, let us ALL know when you find it, Jan.
    I'll happily be under the microscope helping make that work and being part of it.

    God, I'm SO glad I got out of that hellhole; the only worse place I've ever lived was The Peoples State of California.

    It is funny the things that other people think are '"important." And like you pointed out, since we aren't homeless it is hard to know what the most important things for them are. But certainly not WiFi. Does it come with free computers and iPhones to? It kills me that my ex-husband has a better (government supplied) phone than I do.

    This is a crucial aspect of freedom - the freedom to be wrong; the freedom to totally disagree with me. (Not necessarily the same thing!) But it needs to be visible and transparent and publicized. Money in; money out.

    Let them do it.

    In the meantime, I am looking for a state that is experimenting in the opposite direction.

    I am trying to get out of Seattle and away from that kind of sh*t. Don't surround yourself with enemies, it makes you feel like you are always under attack and that you can never relax. STAY AWAY!

    The very BEST defense we have against totalitarianism, socialism, communism, Marxism, fascism, and more IS freedom.
    Freedom of Speech;
    Freedom of the Press;
    Freedom of Religion;
    Equality;
    and most of all, the freedom of expression to TRY socialist experiments BY STATE.

    It always fails as people flee to other states.

    That's why many proponents of these ideologies try to bring them in under other names, or otherwise try to do it all simultaneously around the world; it will never work as long as people have some where to run to.

    LET THEM EXPERIMENT! Reveal it in the press. Talk about it, and watch it fail and hold the bloody carcass of their efforts up for them to see!

    They will never stop. Let them beat their minds free on the wall of Freedom.

    Reveal them, but give them freedom.
    They won't know just how much damage they can do to their own cause with enough freedom.

    I have a close friend who just moved from the Detroit area to live with his daughter in Seattle. I may be able to give a first hand report in the near future. Looks like Seattle is trotting along the same path as Detroit did 40 years ago.

    Wifi access is so the reporters doing homeless stories can submit their stories from the field to get on their media outlet websites faster without using their smartphone minutes... or for the addicts to surf the darknet looking for good drug deals.

    the liberals wake up each morning thinking of how they can make themselves feel better by making possible using taxpayer money to give to those who have nothing something. this activity never stops no matter how much those liberals can extract from the taxpayers to give more and more to the people with their hands out always begging for more. so why are you surprised when a liberal comes up with any thought on what to give the group of indigents who chose to be indigent.

    "At a time when citizens are being arrested for daring to offer food to the homeless population..."

    "Don't Feed the Monkeys"......they become dependent!

    Sadly few things surprise me any longer. Just throw more bread and circuses at the people and they will keep you in power.

    The whole are is pretty much built for junkies. The doctors prescribe opiates like they are candy and then expect people not not get addicted. Its kind of a mess..

    They should be overrun with homeless soon. They have the worst drug addiction problem there too I think. Give out free needles and stuff. Seattle is stunning.
