Cop allegedly objects to proof of insurance on phone, gets law wrong - CNET
I didn't know you could caary proof on your gadget. And trying to piss off a cop is just not cost effective. That seems to be a the root of a lot of the issues you see. I prefer to leave them alone.

For example, I was hit once by an uninsured driver who had an insurance card that showed she was insured for a 6 month period. It turns out she hadn't paid her premium in months so really her insurance had lapsed but the cop accepted the card anyway. Of course I very quickly found out she didn't have insurance and she ended up getting her license suspended and later revoked for not paying the fines. At least with the phone usually you have to sign into your account real time. If you didn't pay and the policy is inactive it will not display the card info. Also, anyone can make a fake insurance card.Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
