I could see this coming soon. On the arms of international military and police patrolling your neighborhood.

Of course any world government would of necessity have to be collectivist socialist and totalitarian.

Seems to me that's what the UN flag is about -
    Nobody needs such!

Yes, was going to make that point, too. Are we into the 100's yet as far as the "anti-Israel" resolutions passed in the UN?

we like it. and it's funny. There is this huge monument/flagpole right outside our little subdivision. Twice a year they haul out this huge mexican flag and there's this big ceremony and they fly it for 8 hours and then they take it down and pack it away. lol

Yes, as the world is today, if you tossed all of the governments into a bowl and allowed them to come to some kind of filthy equilibrium. But I do think it's possible (if not very likely) for a global Republic with the United States as a model. I hinted at it while writing "The Crider Chronicles." It would be the best possible future for the world, even if it's sadly not a very likely one.

Yes... we could then call them Tribes!!!! ... And we have gone full circle!!! The good news is, it will take more years than I have left before some pea-brain is able to convince a very diverse, self-serving group of "World Leaders" to unite for world "betterment".

    Ayn Rand wrote in Anthem-
"We are one in all and all in one.
There are no men but only the great WE,
    One, indivisible and forever."

Put more succinctly by an Australian ex-prime minister, Julia (the Red) Gillard-
    "We are us".

You must find that offensive as an American expat. I'm surprised they continue to display them without considering your feelings.

Because most of the countries that are in that world right now are collectivist socialist and totalitarian. Yay, we could have the representative from Saudi Arabia in charge of our civil rights protection.

Except that very few (if any) pro-UN people are also pro-Israel. That would be a pretty small venn diagram.

I will pay attention to this flag when the world acknowledges rather than abuses the rights of EVERY Individual.

I find 3 interesting things about this flag.. (Putting on my conspiracy theorist tin foil hat...)

1- the colors are those of the UN... and of Israel.

2- speaking of Israel, the design - like the Star of David - is 6 sided and similarly aligned. Add these 2 together, and it seems that if you're not Pro-Israel and/or Pro-UN, it would be hard to get behind this banner.

3- adding 1 and 2 together, it kind if spells out a potential impetus of what forces are really behind this.

I tend to see this as an independent effort to propose a wide-spread representation of the planet as a whole - not a sign of impending takeover from within. After all, it was created by a student and not by or for a government.

As an avid supporter of individual rights and values, I can see how a 'world flag' might be intimidating, but it only makes sense when you consider that we are all inhabitants of the same planet. Its a big world out there (no pun intended) and its only appropriate that we have some kind of sign that represents us as intelligent beings.

I have little doubt the next frontier is outer space, but sometimes I wonder if we will ever be ready for it as a society.

Isn't the point of a flag to identify which group you belong to? What is the other group?

I do like flags. I have nothing against the design of this one. It looks vaguely celtic to me. Maybe in gold on a nice green background. LOL

I do not like the implications of this though. While a world government or governing agreement which allowed for representative government and economic and political freedom would not be a horrible thing, given that most countries that exist today do not have economic or political freedom I do not see that happening. Instead, it is likely to be totalitarian (even if soft) and redistributionist.
