If you mean to Gulch nearby, keep in mind that the Blue Hole Spring is closely regulated by the state. Trying to Gulch up the USA is like arriving late at a movie; all the good seats are taken.

I've often wondered how Objectivists would feel about the possibility of gulching up in land claimed by the feds. There's way too much of it, especially in the western states, and a lot of it isn't used or even policed very well. The Bundy ranch standoff was a result, and I'm sure there are lots more like him.

Hey, this is great, I live about 2 hours away from there and one of the electrical substations I am responsible for is just NW of the town of Santa Rosa. In fact I was just there yesterday and stopped in Santa Rosa for lunch on my way back. It is a historical town that was on the old Route 66 and now has I-40 going almost right through the town. Lots of historic building, hotels and restaurants, I ate at Johnny's Comet yesterday and the food was awesome. The Blue Hole is great, I have visited it and it is cool to watch the divers doing their certifications there. The Pecos River runs right through town along with Santa Rita Creek and the Blue Hole is right in between the 2. There is also Santa Rosa Lake, which is a state park and recreation area. Lots of ranches in the area and I am sure we could find some property.

Weirds me out I 've never been. Camped all over that state. Have you been to the one in Utah? That's pretty cool

No, I didn't know they had one, but I also didn't know about this one and I must have driven by it a couple times going to San Diego when I was in the Navy. I do know Oregon has a couple hot springs in the cascade foothills that are nice, but remote. Have to hike in.

I used to live in Roswell. We had Bottomless Lake nearby. It is about 90 feet deep in spots. Both are such amazing contrasts to the arid surroundings.
