"This is what 'Change' looks like"

This is a graph showing the average duration of unemployment over the decades through other recessions. I've been keeping my eye on it for several years to track progress, and haven't seen much in the past five years.

Think about it for a minute. Even today, after the so-called "recovery" your average unemployed person has been unemployed for over 9 months. What employer is going to hire someone who has been out of work for nine months? What person who's been looking for a job for over 9 months isn't going to lose hope? Increasing the amount of time recipients can receive unemployment benefits was well-intentioned, but as with a lot of knee-jerk policy hastily rushed through it ended up being a huge mistake with disastrous consequences.

Is this the "Change" America voted for?

After too much time many just stop looking for that job, although most will still play the game to get those "free" checks.

In this America, if everyone was out of work and no one was looking for jobs, there would be no unemployment.
