I will say this - I was at one time behind Rand in his run, but Trump's coarse and straightforward talk (I can only hope honesty?) has made me rethink this. Especially since I've seen Paul (a) resort to spam email campaigns. amd (b) flipflop on issues to play to his alleged "base" instead of the American people.
Plus... I have to say this - Trump, for his shortfalls, IS a BUSINESSMAN, and a damned successful one at that. Compared to a politician, that carries a LOT of weight from someone like me who is also a businessperson. He may actually have the Producer's intrests at heart. And I like that.
the is from my VFW email, as follows, Candidate Suggests Eliminating VA: Earlier this week presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson suggested that the Department of Veterans Affairs could be eliminated by moving its services and programs under the Department of Defense. The VFW strongly opposes this idea and VFW National Commander John Biedrzycki Jr., explains why this breaks faith with our wounded, injured and ill veterans here: http://www.vfw.org/News-and-Events/Ar.... Even when you ardently disagree with him, Trump at least seems honest in his advocacy. He strips himself naked metaphorically speaking, and declares of himself, "Here I am, take me or leave me, but there is no mystery about me." He appears to be anti-political, and what most Americans are sick of, is politicians. To date, not a single one currently in office has stood up to their promises.
Ben seems a bit too reserved to be electable in this environment. He is quiet and would be bowled over I think in a real campaign. Too bad, because he is very intelligent and rational. I would be happy with him, except for a bit of the religious stuff he seems to be into.
I would vote for him in the primary. I dont want another Bush (and this one seems a bit stupid to boot), and the religious ones are ridiculous. That leaves Ben Carson who just ISNT presidential and would never win the general election, and Rand Paul who is pretty good, but doesnt stand out as someone who could convince anyone of anything.
Its obvious what Trump's appeal is. He speaks his mind, not couched behind political correctness, fancy words and lies. We need to know when the emperor has no clothes, and Trump would tell us.
In the event DT does get elected I expect that the media will still not recognize that he won fair and square because he basically is saying what he has observed while the competition is still trying to snow the population. For good or bad he is in the cat bird seat at this time.
I think Eudaimonia's comment was essentially correct. I do not intend to vote for Trump in the primary. I do not want him as the nominee. But I think what has been going on with him is, in a way, understandable. It's unfortunate, but well, there's cause and effect.
May the GOP RINO wimps continue to look on agape with shock. Old dino thinks it funny as hell! (Ain't saying I'll vote for Trump. Mr. Perfect he's not).
I've often heard it said from grassroot pundits that Donald Trump is the devil that the GOP deserves for treating its base so poorly. I couldn't agree more. And only now are some of the elitists waking up and crapping their pants.
As long as Trump keeps throwing body shots, I'll keep being amused by his candidacy.
Will I vote for him? It really depends on who the GOP delivers to us as their candidate. If they give us Jeb Bush, as is their intention... hell, I'll write in Trump to help him with one more body blow.
The Dumbocraps are also on Pluto some-wheres. That's the root cause for all this. Political parties are all about the manipulation and we have bred self thinking, integrity and honesty out of the last few generations.
You are indeed correct. I think he is a master of the obvious, and is voicing what the unwashed masses are really concerned about. The Political correctness crap is so widespread and woven into society today, most people have had run ins with it, just go to you local school to see what you are paying for and try to walk out undismayed. We have 2-3 generations of idiots now who know how to not offend anyone, but not anything else. And they are bad at that too.
