No loss but the timing is curious. Wonder what happened?

Best news I've heard in months. Now if they can replace the coward with some courage!

They have a rather large and detailed group of restrictions on what can and cannot be shut down. Starting with Security and Intelligence Services, all the military and civilian law enforcemnt agencies also Medicare, Social Security, IRS, Congress and the White house, supreme court, The stuff they can shut down is inconsequential unless you want a mushroom picking permit from the USFS.

It's possible. According to a story Scott posted the House Freedom Caucus put pressure on him. He gave in to Obama far too many times.

Another example of a leader with no philosophy other than I want to be in charge. Asked what he wants to do when he is in charge and the answer is "Be in charge". The buffoons we elect are just parasites trying to preserve their species. We are too busy living our lives to be bothered with them while they steal our freedom and rob us blind. They are so nearly all the same that is isn't worth thinking about the differences. This will not change by our prescribed process without a group of true patriots that develop a subterfuge that will get them elected without revealing their intent. While it sounds dangerous it is no different to what happens anyway but this time honest men will be the ones that have to resort to the lie of the free lunch.

Maybe the hostile remarks about his performance
got to him, and he decided he didn't want to under-
go that anymore. (Not that people are wrong to
criticize him; I just think it may have had that
    effect).

I wonder if the tears flowed during his announcement. Certainly not from my eyes.

Resigning is too easy for Boehner. He should have been tared and feathered and run out on a rail. IMHO of course.

My guess is Boehner was stunned to read that (out in the hinterland) 5 of every 8 Republicans feel they've been betrayed by him and the party.
The fitting sendoff for Boehner would be for everyone to have a crying drink.
On, Patriots, to the Senate and McConnell.

I suppose whatever purpose he was intended to fill is complete- damage done. I'm curious to see where he ends up.

A nice part of the announcement as given by the press was that Bonehead wanted to preserve the institution (read: establishment or the political class) of the Congress and he (poor chap) felt he was being attacked by conservatives. Just when I lose all hope, it springs forth that "the message" may be getting across to the left.
