Subtract out the religious zealotry and I can go with your man. If Texas split from the union, I would move there too.

All I want from trump is his forthrightness and lack of political correctness. 4 yrs would be enough to get us back on track as a nation and a business. We need a good administrator this time, not a career politician I think. After 4 yrs trumps lack of philosophy wouldn't be good for us, but he would shake up Washington in a good way for 4 years

Hey term2 Although we are in need of great leadership and yes trump is a lot like Putin is that the way back to freedom and liberty? May I suggest the constitution and the only candidate that has consistently stood by it Mr Ted Cruz from the great state of Texas! Richard

I guess I missed out on how Hillary, Biden, sanders, and the plethora of religious republicans will protect my rights. Even Carson is prattling on about "God" is his guiding force. Rand Paul is the best of them, but I can't see him getting elected. Fiorina is a joke and Trump was right about her unelectability. If not trump, then let's go for sanders and get the destruction of the country over with at least quickly so we can start rebuilding

Trump's unprincipled pragmatism and statism, including anti-private property rights eminent domain for private cronies, has been discussed at length on gg. A blustering establishment insider who has been playing all sides and whose guiding standard is to "make good deals" does not want to protect your rights.

So, Why couldn't private enterprise step in here and pick up the enrichment business?

    Oh, I forgot, government force.

suggestion: outline your argument before you make it; side notes steal in and make it incomprehensible - or encyclopedic.

second suggestion: saying that Atlas was fiction so it isn't realistic to compare reality to it vastly and truly weakens your argument. If we have an ideal with which to compare things, we should use it! ["ideal" = that which is best.] If we compare reality to flawed reality, we'll be spending our time explaining why we shouldn't include "x" element of reality because it's irrelevant. Start at the top, it's easier.

Ahoy! This is now an allosaur fair and balanced thread.
I'll vote for Ben Carson, especially if he's running against Socialist Sanders.
This Constitutional Republic may not be able to withstand a second on of those in a row,

Why would the state invade it's own arms room?

The state doesn't correct the market. the consumer does that. If it's a crap product they don't buy. Company either gets the hint and improves or goes broke end of story. JoAnn's for example or Cingular got so big they just ignored everybody and then bought their customer list when the bought ATT. That was a really evil company. There it was straight up RICO time and that's where the state belongs. But not because the one pound burger suddenly weighs out at 15 oz. For that you mention it. It gets fixed or walk out the door. Not rocket science. the quality of the rest of your post is just as ......hmmmm....be polite... is just a last gasp attempt to justify a failed system and a failed president who is the opposite of what you state. Go tell Yoda he failed once again. this time there is no frame to reframe an empty what...if everything in the universe is gone except the space it occupies and then that space also is gone what is left I just read.

    x+y = zero. It's generational

George wasted his money on this one.

189 points? Wow that's really unimpressive. like 'two minutes?'

I really think this is simply becomming an Anti Obama Fanatic´s Page of some sort, in which everything the First Black President does is "wrong". I mean, since when has the US of A been interested in Nuclear Power ? Except for weapon´s use, Nuclear Energy never was accepted continentaly. As for Iran, that´s just the incripted fear that the Bush administration created about the Great Terrorist Threat; when the biggest Terror lays in the Middle East, and it´s called the US of A´s Armed Forces. Now Iran is going to create a Nuclear Weapon of Mass Destruction ? Well, shouldn´t the Armed Forces invade homeland since, after all, the largest porter of WOMD is the states...right?

I understand Rand´s principles and concerns, for she saw the awful partake of the Soviets and their Socialist Principles Turned Despotic and Unnatural (sorry if it´s misspelled, I´m not living in an english speaking community). And when she moved to America, Marxism and Fordism; as well as other ideals were just starting to spawn and, well; she feared the worst. Thus "Atlas Shrugged". Yet the world isn´t all contrasts you see, and that is a fiction novel. Not to be taken literally, no matter how revealing and foretelling we may sense it to be.

The extreme liberal, and later neo liberal economies produced the downfall of the 2008 markets, as it happenned in 1929´s Great Crash and Depression. "Dog eat Dog" politics are fair initially, but once one has the horizontal monopoly of something well; it´s hard for competition to exist and; without competition people, quality drops. So the State must guarantee certain rules to the game. Not to intervene and damage business, but to asure there be no bullies killing dreams which, by the way; is the american dream persay.

I know I´m gonna get alot of heat for this comment, yet I don´t mind it. I´m open minded and; any critique that´s constructive and not ill founded, will help me and my growth. But it´s always important to have balance. Apparently, alot of people have used Rand´s Galt and Roark to justify their hate towards equality and balance. Obama isn´t a mooch or anything, and he´s not maintainning bums. He´s not one of the heirs of the Twentieth Century and that pathetic excuse for a town. Again, fiction. He´s trying to raise the bar against an unjust and sinister system that has been eating america from the inside out. How can people live in dignity if the real heirs own the ball, the court and the brand of gym shoes, TV rights and your son´s scholarship? The percentage of Federal Funding for Obamacare and such is still way bellow a hazardous figure, while the amount used up in war related enterprises is enormous still. I don´t think he´s a "Socialist" at all. The President is trying to keep peace in homeland, and to achieve the same on an international level. Excuse me for sounding so Satanic, but I´m all for peace. War is man´s greatest, all time fails. And it persists still, thousands of years in the making. A change would actually be a good start. Invest in alternative energies, that´s smart and a benefit for all.

You are brave. Einstein. The absence of space. What is there when everything is gone except space and then space is not anywhere?

My formula is the x generation x+y = zero

Hitler also had too grandiose a plan of taking over all of europe AND Russia, and then went against the USA also in 1941. Too many adversaries all at once. And all the while having to deal with killing the jews and the russian soldiers too. Germany was just not THAT big and powerful as a country to do all that. Amazing that they were able to accomplish what they did actually in such a short time

That would probably be a Cloward and Piven fully crashed economy that Obama would say required a new Marxist solution for running this country.
I think that was what Obama was really up to when he doubled the debt.
My guess is that this country proved to be stronger than thought it was. Well, up till now . . .

I did read it. No wonder why it appears in Huffington Post, a manipulative liberal media outlet with only one agenda- increasing government control. They would print anything which was just supported their liberal agenda. In this case, Trump is outside the liberal establishment and they are using Ayn Rand to disparage him. I read the article, and I understand Trump is not a die hard Objectivist, but none of the others are either. At least he is NOT part of the same old liberal washington crowd.

WOW. so many people just hate Trump that I tend to take the opposite side. Who would he actually want to win the election (who has a chance in hell to actually win it)? There isnt anyone else half as good as Trump, who is definitely NOT perfect by any stretch. For the years I have left, I would rather not have to deal with intense deficit spending, weak foreign policy, increased government spending on wars we cant win, and really dont want to either, and more and more government. I have essentially no political power, so what I think doesnt go any further than one vote for a president and maybe some congressional votes here and then.

There are several people such as Peter Schwartz and Leonard Peikoff and Harry Binswanger who were part of Ayn Rand's inner circle who are outstanding writers and observers of what is going on and should be read by all especially those who claim to be Objectivists.
