Fivedollar is hardly a fan of the psychoanalyst from Vienna, however, his concept of defense mechanisms is quite handy. This concept refers to making a behavior seem like its opposite. Mr. Carney's assertion of "having a good week" left fivedollar scratching his head, until remembering this concept.

- 2Posted by fivedollargold 11 years, 11 months agoThe first step in the demise of a press secretary is when "friendly" reporters start asking tough questions.The next step is when reporters snicker and laugh at you. The final step is when they start shouting you down before you can even finish a sentence. Actually, there's one more step, but I've never seen a press secretary stay on the job to this point. That's when the professional reporters don't bother to show up at all, but send in their interns.| Permalink
