But I guess old conservatives need something to be scared of so it makes it OK for the government to take more of their rights, spend more of their money that they don't have, or take their attention off of what's really damaging any chance for a life of freedom and liberty.
The need to destroy these primitive savages is because of what they are doing as an ideological murder and terror organization, not because 'old conservatives need something to be scared of''. ISIS has provided the motive for all of us. If government had taken it seriously and acted accordingly instead of using it as an excuse to permanently oppress innocent American citizens, the threat would go away because the savages would no longer exist.
We need to make a pause, do a serious critique of what we've been doing outside of our own country since at least WWI, maybe even the Spanish-American War, Wilson's League of Nations leading to the United Nations, and our role intervening in the rest of the world. Or we need to accept who and what we've really become to the rest of the world during the 20th and now 21st century, particularly since we forced Britain to give up it's empire and control, and we with the UN would take their place in controlling the savages of the world. If we accept that truth, then we can start to really use the greatest military and nuclear arsenal the world has ever seen.
But then who are we; Rome, Alexander, the Spanish, Napolean, King Henry thru Queen Elizabeth I, Hitler, Japan, the USSR. We tell ourselves that we're doing it all for 'Democracy and the American Way' and protecting ourselves at home by killing them over there so we don't have to face them here, But has any of that ever really been true or is it just marketing slogans (propaganda). For the first time ever in our history, this year we have a near accurate record of the number of US citizens actually shot and killed by our own government, 1,200 to 1,300 by years end which is roughly 30% of the total shot at and about half of those wounded, and since 9/11 indicates as many as 16,000 to 17,000 shot and killed on our streets and in our homes by our own government. And we're worried about what a handful of ignorant fanatics might do? Our 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendment prohibitions and protections from our government overstepping our rights have been gutted, the 2nd is under continuous attack, and even the 1st is disappearing, and the 10th is a joke. With something like 5% of the world's population, we imprison more per capita and more total than any other nation or government system on earth. And now DHS and DOJ call American constitutionalists and returning vets their biggest worry as 'home grown terrorists, so they have to monitor and record our every phone call, text, and internet search, track our spending, track our car travel, and we now have to carry a National ID card to be able to fly within our own country. Buy billions of hollow point bullets (outlawed for use in combat), and automatic weapons, and place armored vehicles in every little podunk police department..
This Great and Wondrous Bastion of Freedom, Liberty, and the American Way has become what? We've even got a Donald Trump making a serious run for President. And we're worried about a few uneducated religious zealots that like to blow themselves up. Or we're worried about nearly 1 billion Muslims.
If we don't return to Reason and logically Rational thinking and understand the magnitude of individual rights, I fear we're lost.
Islamic Terrorists, huh!
