Who should play Dagny Taggart?

Whenever I watch television or movies, there's a part of my brain that's trying to cast the Atlas Shrugged miniseries / TV series.

Politics aside, I think Robin Wright (from House of Cards) would make a great Dagny Taggart.

Who do you think would make a great Dagny Taggart?

Side note, after watching House of Cards, I think Kevin Spacey would be a pretty darn good Head of State Thompson!

I think so, too. I think that Rachel Hunter is a Republican. She's in her forties, but maybe she can carry it off.

    Jennifer Lawrence.
She is a really fine actress and can get into a role very deeply. But, unless she is a convert, she is unaffordable.

Nice pick! I like her as well. Again, this assumes the political and philosophical leanings are on target with Ayn Rand's work.

    I agree.

While I suspect Robin Wright is no Dagny Taggart in real life (based on interviews I've seen), I honestly don't know what her political, philosophical, or religious leanings are.

There are many fine actresses, such as Robin Wright, who could play the role of Dagny Taggart, but I think the the actress should have some philosophical leaning toward the philosophy of the character she is playing.

It would be nice is the actresses who would play Dagny Taggart would be able to articulate why she is playing this part when she comes under attack from the media for staring in such a series, and not make excesses.

Anyone interested in Jodie Foster? She is good at presenting a prompt, and punctual individual who is all about business. I think she would do an excellent job. Don't get me wrong the woman who is playing Dagny now is good, but Jodie would be stupendous!

And she'd like to do it and has the philosophical creds. She's my first choice, always has been.

Robyn Right would be a great Mrs. Rearden. She plays just the kind of cold, manipulative person in House of Cards that I see Reerdens wife as.

Hard to see her as Dagny, to manipulative of others in House of cards to get past it for me.

They already had the best- the one that played Dagny in AS #1. She would be expensive now, after playing in Orange is the New Black however.

I thought Taylor Schilling (from the first AS movie) made a great Dagny, and I'd like to see her back in that role.

Spacey as Mr. Thompson? Nah. Thompson and the other AS bad guys are supposed to be nonentities who don't really know what they're doing, and Spacey isn't going to project that. If they ever remake Fountainhead, Spacey would be my choice for Ellsworth Toohey.

Robin Wright (who, incidentally, is Buttercup in the Princess Bride) is way too old.

I think that one primary consideration should be the ethics and political philosophy of anyone hired for such a project. Start the strike by not providing aid, comfort, and jobs to the enemy.

Without any research into the political leanings of the actress, I think Jessica Chastain (The Martian, The Help, Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty) would be a good choice. Of course, she is likely too busy to consider a small screen job. (She had to pass on a role in Iron Man 3 because she had schedule conflicts.)

Kathryn Morris from the TV series 'Cold Case' always struck me as a good choice for Dagny.

I actually never saw The Host --- I'll have to check it out. I like her pictures though.

No complaints about Porgy and Bess from me, so consider this trade-
If you comply with Rand's concept, and produce those awards, then ok by me to have a 100% African-American cast, baddies and goodies both.
(Concession to kh, all Asian also ok. LGBT.etc? Why not? But no concession on deviating from the theme and getting the awards)

I have seen House of Cards, and it's hard for me to imagine Wright being a good idea. For the same reason Spacey would be great for Thompson.

They're both good actors and could probably have me quickly seeing them as their new characters.
