That was another article reflecting the gross mismanagement of a once shining example of Americas Industrial strength. The city does no doubt need more police, but the city is broke, and the population continues to dwindle. The problem stems from the fact that there is still the same amount of land mass to police with fewer taxpayers to support it. It is however, despite the assertion to the contrary impossible for the police to protect you… “These are the men and women who we look to protect us… and police officers can’t protect you if they’re not there.” The police are not capable of protecting you. They are only capable of cleaning up and hunting down the offenders for punishment. In Detroit the truth is that more crimes go unsolved than in almost any other major city also, so in that regard they fail miserably too. Of course you won’t hear that from the police union… Today the chief of police offered his resignation to Mayor Bing. He has apparently been acting like Clinton with his own Lewinskys!
