    Hello blarman,
    Good. We have our own profligate spenders already putting us in deep debt we can't repay. How are we supposed to bail out others? If we borrow from China to bail out Puerto Rico why not cut out the middle man and let them borrow from China directly.. if they can.

    What reason to keep them as vassals?
    What reason not to unilaterally grant independence?

    None , none and none.

    Cut your losses by doing the RIGHT thing.
