I know it's long but please read all five pages because this is real and most people have no idea it exists.

    Of course that only counts if they follow the Constitution. Fat chance of that these days. More like Slim to none.

    Unfortunately, said stick is in their hands. The current situation of the country is indeed something being re-engineered in someone's image, I am not sure whose though. Too many candidates.

    Oh, and there are sufficient pre-programmed emergencies they can choose (terrorist, Russia, China, NK) to tip over and call "National Emergency".

    I think you may be right. The movements are all in her favor, and Obamanations endorsement is as if the King has appointed his heir. The Republicrats are all scheming how to dump Trump, as he has this nice propensity for self immolation by mouth. At this point I see either party winning as a loss for us.

    Not necessarily. Remember her opponent is left wing also. They could use a four year break to repair damage and rebuild and whatever Trump does, like Bush, it will only aide their cause. Slow it up? Big deal that's their game as long as the direction is left.

    The "big stick" is a necessity in this world of today. Too many groups want to take over the US and make it over to their brand of belief. That has been the whole point of the last 7+ years of the current administration. To "fundamentally transform" this nation into a third world country has been the goal, thus the attacks on all the traditional values in the name of "equality". What a sham.

    The command level people who may have done something in the face of this order have been replaced during this administrations time in office. Replaced with folks who are more than likely to go along with this type of EO.

    True and I should point out the legal suspension of habeas is strictly defined and limited. People like FDR in his quest to dump the old system and install socialism went much further much faster than the fore fathers would have expected from a 'legitimately' acting President. Something we see now on a daily basis from FDR II but I gotta tell you Lightning Boy you are no FDR. You aren't even a Carter.

    I wasn't questioning Lincoln's suspension of habeas corpus, but the article's author's belief that a trial is for the accused to prove his innocence rather than that the purpose of the trial is for the government to prove the guilt of the accused. If the government is not able to do so, then the accused has to be released even if he may actually be guilty of a crime. Habeas Corpus is part of that requirement of government toward proving guilt. It is only possible to show that the positive evidence toward guilt is wrong and not prove that a negative happened by the accused. Trials are held in many places without the state having to prove anything so that the accused has to prove a negative, thus prove his innocence.

    It is something to consider, a foriegn policy needs to be balanced, and not rely on just hoping we "make friends" especially when we star naming friends who are not very good to their own people. Realistically, our country has a long history of manipulating other countries for our own benefit, and not theirs. Maybe we should be more Randish and stay closer to home and have a big stick, and not interfere.

    Recall there are two instances when that may be suspended legally per Constitution.This is the legal background for Lincoln, FDR, and perhaps the reason why ......read it first.

    Article One, Section 9, clause 2, which demands that "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it."

    wars are not declared in response to invasions and the government shuns from declaring a state of civil insurrection preferring to find other means. Those who rail against Lincoln on this matter cannot read. it contains and affects more than the point Irshultis referred to in the preceding comment.

    Has it come to that where a trial is not the state proving guilt of the accused but rather that the accused has to prove their innocence?

    I'm opposed to any expansion of Executive Branch power, but is Mr. Powell mis-representing this EO? I don't understand this order, but it looks like it reassigns to specific agencies authorities granted under some 1950 Defense Production Act.

    The article starts off saying there's something ominous about this particular order and then goes through an interesting history of ever-increasing executive power. It feels like an article with a provocative title and provocative insinuations on the first page. Then it says, okay even if the first page was a bunch of political crap, the trend of increasing executive power is a real problem. I agree.

    Durng the run up from 9/11 to a full Internal Security type program including the next two Presidential elections that was fouond to be true. The mantra at the time was 'do what you have to do we just want to feel safe.' "Be Safe" was not part of the chant. That's where the twin evils of the protective echelon and ignoring the constitution in favor of Executive Directives took hold and grew like topsy. This of course fit Obamas lack of leadership style unless you count always running for re-election - even as now perfectly. It also fit the Wasserman/Pelosi/Reid and Clinton preference backed up by the Secular Progressives.The latter always collective non thinking fans of a 'nurturing' mother figure on the outside and firm stern father figure on the inside have been in 7th secular heaven ever since.

    The cracks in the plaster however are showing with TSA for the failure of 'make us feel safe along with the clearly politically driven slant of the Justice Department, a really crappy economy with zero expectations and other failings.

    Strong leadership is needed for sure to correct the course and bring back to the rhumb line but I don't see that being offerered.

    So far the platforms are hard left, hard left, left/righ/left, and ease to five degrees leftrudder - and that only because the Libertarians got on all 50 state ballots.

    It will take a full impact demonstration of the new powers along with another Recession II or inflation/devaluation/repudiation shock wave followed by civil unrest.

    Guaranteed with a Clinton or Sanders, Probable with a Trump although I saw one sign of sanity and problematical with even a Johnson unless he gets full congressional support.

    Meantime "i have no plans to become an EX expat.

    martial meaning military. Marshal is law enforcement officer all of whom except for Military police are civilians.

    The LEAs and other government agents who refer to everyone else excepting themselves as civilians are the one's to watch. That's your future Gestapo.

    It's a mind set and that particular variety is set in concrete.

    Allow me an amendment. How would the general public tell or know the difference? As long as they have enough gas in the pickup to get to the football game and have a little tailgate party. Case of long necks

    Much there goes without question, but when it comes to the worlds attitude over the US, Trump is not really going to affect that anyway - they almost completely hate us anyway. For the most part they always forget that it us who pulled their butts out of the fire when the last tyrant rose to power and started killing them all.

    Perhaps we should stop winning "hearts and minds" while trying to convince every two bit dictator to "like us by the capitulation of OUR values, history, and laws. I kinda think Trump just might be the right guy to do this. The "Hildabeast" or crazy uncle bernie sure won't.

    FDR the USA leader during the Great Socialist Wars of the 20th Century invented this one. Not Argentina nor Brazil. Have someone apprehended in a way where no records nor charges are needed. Souond familiar if not reread the patriot act apprehension rules on 'suspicion of.'

    Individual is locked up in a mental institution for observation for as long as is necessary. In effect - disappeared. In the end released to reappear with some 'story' the telling of which supports mental derangement.

    The place was one St. Elizabeths Hospital used by the federal government near Washington DC.

    Another of the Patriot Act techniques is extending a sentence or time required in the disappeared status by, if I remember correctly, up to ten additional years.

    No need to fire on civilians just disappear the leadership.

    Yes, it does, and it will be enacted in the dark of night, in the depth of the winter, probably in the early morning of 20 Jan. 2017. They think they are prepared, but they don't have a clue.
    It will be the start of the 2nd Civil War and will end in the Balkanization of the United States with a country of Red states and islands of Blue that we will take back when their economies fail.
