GOP Senators Cave on 2nd Amendment
Say goodbye to the 2nd Amendment and it not being impinged. I have owned guns since I got out of the military, before I joined the military and then the military gave me some bada$$ guns to use for 21 years while I was in. The civilians guns killed a couple of deer and elk and a few hundred squirrels but no people. The guns the military gave me killed a couple of people but only under the rules of war. The thing is those weapons only did what I directed them to do, they never went out on their own and killed or did any damage unless I did while using the weapon. The weapons are not the problem, it is the people using them. Dumbocrats and Gophers obviously cannot read the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights that they are supposed to uphold and defend. I know, I recited the Oath of Office several times in my career.

Maybe I didn't read between the lines?
I like that idea, but not as much as a limit on duration, after which the law expires if not renewed, and a testable intended outcome. If the law does not accomplish it's intent, it is cancelled.
IMO, respect for the dignity of those who will be murdered is not allowing them to fall as sheep disarmed to be slaughtered.
Repeated reports of terrorist attacks is a major reason why I now carry a concealed pistol plus a spare magazine in the opposite front pocket.
No, I don't really want my preferred dignified death. I prefer to shoot some murdering cur dead.
Getting the government involved in religion would be beating it up. Keeping church and state separate is good for all concerned.
I agree and think gov't should do public what-if planning sessions before the crisis happens. I would like to do one for what if someone sets of a crude nuclear device in a populated area. Maybe that's reason to give up some of our freedoms temporarily. We should have that debate now, not right after the attack.
Since we don't live in utopia, someone will shoot up a place again. Some sneak attack will kill thousands. It's happened throughout history and will keep happening. We should formulate a plan with cool heads and execute it when tragedy strikes.
But I'm fairly certain a waiting period measure will never come to pass.
There are just too many wily jackasses and spineless rinophants playing their gimme games in the capitol building.
Here is a nugget in a letter from Jefferson to his FIFTEEN year-old nephew Peter Carr.
During some debates recently some very spirited discussion occurred regarding the 2nd Amendment, open carry concealed carry, and what did the founders REALLY mean. While researching, I came across this. Should there ever be any doubt about what the founders meant by "keep and BEAR (not bare) Arms". It is important to note that when sending personal letters to and from friends your TRUE feelings and views are often laid bare.
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion of your walks." --Thomas Jefferson to Peter Carr,
1785. ME 5:85, Papers 8:407
That letter sure sounds like National Concealed carry ALL THE TIME to me.
I highly DOUBT he was referring to lugging around a musket or long-rifle as your constant companion.
A next day or two emotional reaction to something is not a use of logic.
There's a big difference between knee-jerk and brain-work.
"Donald Trump said he would meet with the NRA to discuss ways to block people on terrorism watch lists or no-fly lists from buying guns. The same day, Trump told a rally in Georgia: "I'm going to save your Second Amendment.""
That's what you can expect from Trump. Ignore the constitution and pass more unconstitutional laws to increase fedgov power.
Its right next to your brain and your anus.
We here in connecticut call him...pissy hands murphy...
